ANNUAL CONVENTION TO PROMOTE RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM, PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ITS MEMBERS AND ENCOURAGE THE CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION OF TRAVEL RESOURCES WORLDWIDE AND TO ELECT OFFICERS AND REPORT ON PREVIOUS YEARS ACTIVITIES.
MEMBERS ARE DIVIDED INTO CHAPTERS, BASED ON GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION (EASTERN, CENTRAL STATES, WESTERN), AND THEN COUNCILS (FREELANCE, EDITORS AND ASSOCIATES) IN ORDER TO HOLD MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO INTRODUCE MEMBERS TO NEW DESTINATIONS AROUND THE WORLD. MEMBERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET AND DISCUSS ISSUES AND TO OBTAIN SKILLS TRAINING RELEVANT TO WHAT THEY DO FOR A LIVING AND PROMOTE PUBLIC RELATIONS, PROVIDE TRAVEL INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC, PROVIDE FORUMS FOR DISCUSSION AMONG JOURNALISTS AND ENHANCE SKILL LEVELS AMONG THE MEMBERS.
