HONORS AND AWARDS - THE ASLA HONORS AND AWARDS PROGRAM, PUT ON BY THE ASLA FUND, PROVIDES ASLA MEMBERS WITH PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION, RECOGNIZES INDIVIDUALS OUTSIDE OF THE PROFESSION FOR RELATED WORK, AND PROVIDES IMPORTANT PROMOTION OF THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSION THROUGH PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS AND AN ARCHIVING AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES LIBRARY OF CONGRESS. IN NOVEMBER 2022, 75 PROFESSIONAL AND STUDENT AWARDEES WERE HONORED, 9 ASLA HONORS (THE HIGHEST RECOGNITION THE SOCIETY BESTOWS EACH YEAR) WERE AWARDED, AND 5 INDIVIDUALS WERE INDUCTED AS HONORARY MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY.
WOMEN OF COLOR LICENSURE ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM (WCLAP) - STATE LICENSURE SIGNIFIES A LEVEL OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCY AND IS AN IMPORTANT WAY TO ACHIEVE GREATER CAREER AND BUSINESS SUCCESS. THE ASLA FUND HAS LAUNCHED THE WOMEN OF COLOR LICENSURE ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM TO SUPPORT WOMEN OF COLOR IN THEIR PURSUIT OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE LICENSURE AND INCREASE RACIAL AND GENDER DIVERSITY WITHIN THE PROFESSION. IN 2021, THE ASLA FUND RECEIVED MATCHING SEED FUNDING FROM THREE DONORS TO LAUNCH THIS PROGRAM. NOW FUNDED FOR 5 YEARS, THE PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN SPRING 2022 WITH OUR FIRST COHORT OF WOMEN.SUPPORT FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS TO ATTEND ASLA SKILL|ED CONFERENCE - ASLA SKILL|ED IS A NEW ASLA VIRTUAL PRACTICE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO EMPOWER LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSIONALS AS THEIR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES GROW. THIS THREE-DAY VIRTUAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE IS A CAREER DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENT FOR PRACTITIONERS LOOKING TO BUILD THEIR LEADERSHIP CAPACITY, ADD VALUE TO THEIR FIRM, AND DEVELOP TRANSFERABLE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SKILLS. THE ASLA FUND BEGAN RAISING FUNDS TO HELP THIS PLAN BECOME REALITY THROUGH RESEARCH AND EDUCATION.
LIBRARY AND EDUCATION - THE ASLA FUND MAINTAINS HISTORICAL AND ARCHIVED INFORMATION ON LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, INCLUDING DOCUMENTS VALUABLE TO THE PROFESSION. THESE ARCHIVES ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO RESEARCHERS AND PRACTITIONERS TO FURTHER INCREASE THE KNOWLEDGE OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE. ADDITIONALLY, EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES ARE MADE AVAILABLE FOR SHARING RESEARCH, BEST PRACTICES, AND OTHER INFORMATION OF IMPORTANCE IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE.
DREAM BIG WITH DESIGN - IN CONJUNCTION WITH ASLA, THE ASLA FUND PRESENTED THE SECOND DREAM BIG WITH DESIGN EVENT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2022 TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE EXCITING WORLD OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE WITH ITS PREK-12 SUMMIT FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS. THE EVENT SHOWCASED LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE WITH HANDS-ON PREK-12 LEARNING SESSIONS FOR STUDENTS THROUGH A DYNAMIC FORUM AMONG PREK-12 EDUCATORS AND ASLA MEMBERS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY, REACHING OVER 700 STUDENTS.MINECRAFT DESIGN CAMPS - IN 2022, OUR PILOT PROGRAM THAT BROUGHT A MINECRAFT DESIGN COMPETITION TO THREE UNDERSERVED HIGH SCHOOLS WAS EXPANDED BY THE ASLA FUND TO GROW INTO A SERIES OF MINECRAFT DESIGNSEE SCHEDULE O FOR ADDITIONAL DETAIL
