OUR MISSION IS TO PROMOTE A SAFE, HEALTHY AND STABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL SOMERSET COUNTY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES BY ACHIEVING A COMPREHENSIVE SYSTEM OF EDUCATION, HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES THROUGH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INTERAGENCY COLLABORATION.

FACES OF SOMERSET (FAMILY, ACADEMICS, CHARACTER, ENRICHMENT, AND SERVICE) IS AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FUNDED BY THE 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS GRANT ADMINISTERED BY THE MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO INCREASE READING SKILLS, COMPREHENSION, AND MARYLAND SCHOOL ASSESSMENT (MSA) SCORES WITH ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS. THE SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE GARLAND HAYWARD YOUTH CENTER IN PRINCESS ANNE AND THE VILLAGE YOUTH CENTER IN CRISFIELD.
HEALTHY FAMILIES LOWER SHORE IS A HOME VISITING PROGRAM FOR ANY NEW PARENT IN SOMERSET COUNTY. PARENTS CAN ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM DURING THE THIRD TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY AND UNTIL THE BABY IS THREE WEEKS OLD.
THE SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN OF ARRESTED PARENTS IS A PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN WHO HAVE PARENTS THAT ARE INCARCERATED, AND WORKS TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THOSE CHILDREN, PARENTS, AND CAREGIVERS. FAMILY MEDIATION SERVICES AND RE-ENTRY COORDINATION ARE PROVIDED TO INCARCERATED PARENTS AND RESOURCE CONNECTIONS ARE BUILT FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR CAREGIVERS. TRAINING AND RESOURCES IS ALSO PROVIDED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT TO MITIGATE TRAUMA TO CHILDREN PRESENT DURING THEIR PARENTS' ARREST, AS WELL AS FOLLOW UP SERVICES ON CASES INVLOLVING CHILDREN OF AN INCARCERATED PARENT.
