TO PROMOTE THE COMMON BUSINESS INTERESTS OF ITS MEMBERS WHO ARE NATIONWIDE INSURANCE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AGENTS, THROUGH THE STUDY, DEVELOPMENT AND PROMULGATION OF RULES, PRINCIPLES, AND IDEAS PROMOTING ENHANCED PROFESSIONALISM, COMPETENCE AND ETHICAL PRACTICE IN THE FIELD.

WITH NATIONWIDE'S (NW) DECISION TO IMPLEMENT A PROGRAM TO MAKE ALL CAPTIVE AGENTS TRULY INDEPENDENT AGENTS BY JULY 2020, NIICA CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON HELPING AGENTS EVALUATE AND IMPLEMENT THE THREE OPTIONS BEING OFFERED. WE ALSO CONTINUED OUR SOCIAL MEDIA DISCUSSION GROUP FOR NIICA MEMBERS TO OFFER ANY UPDATED INFORMATION, DISCUSS CONCERNS WITH THE PROPOSED CHANGES, AND GENERALLY OFFER SUPPORT FOR EACH OTHER IN THIS TIME OF TRANSITION.


THE ASSOCIATION OFFERED A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS AND A VENDOR EXPO IN FEBRUARY 2020. THE VENDOR EXPO OFFERED PRODUCTS AND SERVICES OUR MEMBERS WILL NEED TO CONSIDER AS THEY TRANSITION TO INDEPENDENT STATUS. THE WORKSHOPS INCLUDED PRESENTATIONS ON ISSUES AGENTS WILL NEED TO CONSIDER TO CHANGE THEIR BUSINESS MODEL IN THE TRANSITION TO INDEPENDENT STATUS. NIICA STARTED THE PROCESS TO DISSOLVE THE ASSOCIATION IN 2020 TO COINCIDE WITH THE NW COMPLETION OF THEIR PLANS FOR THE AGENTS TO BE INDEPENDENT BY JULY 1, 2020. NIICA ALSO BEGAN TO EXPLORE THE VARIOUS ASSOCIATIONS SUPPORTING THE INDUSTRY'S EXISTING INDEPENDENT AGENCIES TO IDENTIFY MEMBERSHIP TRANSITION OPPORTUNITIES IN 2020.
