CEASE FIRE DON'T SMOKE THE BROTHERS, INC. ACTS AS A CATALYST IN IMPROVING COMMUNICATIONS AMONG YOUTH, THROUGHOUT THE CITY, BY INVOLVING THE PUBLIC AND USING EXPERTS, INCLUDING FORMER GANG MEMBERS AND EX-CONVICTS, AS A MEANS OF IMPACTING A-RISK YOUTH PRIMARILY IN WARD 4 AND THROUGHOUT THE CITY AS WELL. OUR PRIMARY FOCUS IS THE CITY-WIDE IMPLEMENTATION OF EFFORTS TO STOP VIOLENCE AND CRIME AMONG THE YOUTH OF THE WASHINGTON, DC METROPOLITAN AREA. WE GENERALLY HAVE OUR ANNUAL 6 MONTH MORATORIUM TO STOP THE KILLING AND THE ANNUAL BOXING MATCHES. THE PANDEMIC HAS PLACED THOSE PROGRAMS ON HOLD BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF ATTENDEES. OUR VENUE AT UPSHUR RECREATION PARK CANNOT BE RESERVED AT THIS TIME PER DC ORDINANCE. WE HAVE BEEN DOING EVERYTHING TO KEEP OUR ORGANIZATION VISIBLE - VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND OUR COMMUNITY CENTER ON 14TH STREET NW. WE HAVE PIVOTED IN OTHER AREAS AND ARE DOING WHAT WE CAN. WE WENT VIRTUAL DOING OUR ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF MAYOR FOR LIFE MARION BARRY DAY. WE PASSED OUT 25,000 PPE BAGS, CONTAINING GLOVES, HAND SANITIZER, CEASE FIRE FACES MASK AND CEASE FIRE DON'T STOP THE KILLING BUTTONS. WE PASSED OUT 10,000 DINNERS AND LUNCHES TO THE SENIORS AND EX- PRISONERS/ RETURNING CITIZENS AND HOMELESS PEOPLE IN WARD 4. PASSED OUT 500 TURKEY BASKET FOR THANKSGIVING TO THE LESS FORTUNATE FAMILIES ALL OVER THE CITY AND ANOTHER 758 SINGLE TURKEYS TO EX-PRISONERS/ RETURNING CITIZENS' FAMILIES OUR GOAL IS TO CONTINUE TO ASSIST AT RISK YOUTH AND RETURNING CITIZENS. WE DO NOT WANT THEM TO REVERT BACK TO A LIFE OF CRIME. WE HAVE HAD TO TAKE SOME OF OUR PROJECTS VIRTUAL BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC. WE WILL CONTINUE FIGHTING THE PANDEMIC AND CONTINUE TO PARTNER WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP DC RESIDENTS. WE NEED TO PAY OPERATING EXPENSES ON OUR COMMUNITY CENTER. OUR GOAL IS TO BE IMPACTFUL IN THE CITY IN REDUCING VIOLENT CRIMES AND SHOOTINGS. THE NAME OF OUR ORGANIZATION - CEASE FIRE DON'T SMOKE (SHOOT) THE BROTHERS EXPLAINS OUR MISSION. WE ALSO GO TO COURT WITH YOUTH IN LEGAL TROUBLE AND WE WORK WITH THE SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE HAVE SAVED ABOUT 10 YOUTH FROM THE PRISON SYSTEM THIS YEAR. WE PATROL COMMUNITIES TO BE A PRESENCE SO THAT VIOLENCE IS CURTAILED AND WE CONTINUE TO QUASH BEEF BETWEEN GANGS. WE RECEIVE MANY AWARDS EVERY YEAR FOR OUR HARD WORK. CEASE FIRE DON'T SMOKE THE BROTHERS & SISTERS FOCUSES ON AT-RISK YOUTH (MALE AND FEMALE), GANG MEMBERS AND EX-PRISONERS TO REDIRECT BEHAVIORS THAT LEAD TO VIOLENT CRIMES, GANGS, INCARCERATION AND RECIDIVISM. OUR ORGANIZATION BECAME WIDELY RECOGNIZED FOR QUASHING BEEFS, A 24-HOUR, SEVEN-DAYS-A WEEK VEHICLE PATROL OF THE CITY'S HOT CRIME SPOTS; PROVIDING A SAFE HAVEN FOR AT-RISK YOUTH AND EX-PRISONERS; ASSISTING EX-PRISONERS WITH JOBS WITH LIVABLE WAGES.
