DBA MARTIN'S HOUSE & BARN, IS A NON-DENOMINATIONAL NON-PROFIT THAT HAS SERVED THE FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS STRUGGLING WITH POVERTY AND HOMELESSNESS ON THE EASTERN SHORE FOR SEVERAL DECADES. MARTIN'S HOUSE & BARN NOT ONLY PROVIDES ESSENTIAL SHELTER, FOOD, AND CLOTHING TO THOSE IN NEED, BUT ALSO PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT TO HELP CLIENTS NAVIGATE AND ACCESS AVAILABLE SERVICES TO IDENTIFY AND ADDRESS THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH THAT CAUSE THE CONDITION OF POVERTY. THE FAMILY SHELTER IN MARTIN'S HOUSE PROVIDES A SAFE HAVEN FOR FAMILIES STRUGGLING WITH HOMELESSNESS. OUR HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION SERVICES FOCUS ON A "HOUSING FIRST" APPROACH TO HELP COMMUNITY CLIENTS AVOID EVICTION AND TO HELP SHELTER CLIENTS TO QUICKLY GET INTO THEIR OWN HOUSING. CASE MANAGEMENT HELPS CLIENTS DETERMINE OBSTACLES, MAKE A PLAN AND NAVIGATE AVAILABLE SOURCES.
THE FOOD PANTRY, LOCATED IN MARTIN'S BARN, SUPPORTS FAMILIES EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY WITH ACCESS TO HEALTHY AND NUTRITIOUS FOOD PACKAGES. THE THRIFT SHOP, ALSO LOCATED IN MARTIN'S BARN, OFFERS QUALITY CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS.
