GENERAL OPERATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONAL COSTS OF SCHOOL FOR DYSLEXIC CHILDREN IN GRADES K THROUGH 8. ODYSSEY SCHOOL HELPS STUDENTS BUILD SELF-ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE IN SPITE OF A LEARNING DIFFERENCE, EMPOWERING THEM TO UNDERSTAND THEIR SPECIAL MINDS AND TO FIND AND USE THEIR STRENGTHS TO A GREATER ADVANTAGE. TEACHING SELF-ADVOCACY IS A PART OF THE DAILY PROGRAM. THE SCHOOL PROVIDES EARLY INTERVENTION THAT PROMOTES SUCCESS THROUGH ITS COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES RESEARCH DRIVEN TEACHING APPROACHES THAT ARE REINFORCED IN DAILY TUTORING SESSIONS.


SUMMER CAMP AND AFTER-SCHOOL-CARE: SUMMER CAMP IS FIVE WEEKS LONG RUNNING FROM LATE JUNE THROUGH JULY. THE MORNING PROGRAM FOCUSES ON ACADEMICS WHILE THE AFTERNOON PROGRAM CONSISTS OF RECREATIONAL ACTIVITES OUTSOURCED TO COPPERMINE. THE MORNING ACADEMIC SESSION COVERS A NUMBER OF DISCIPLINES AND INCLUDES A 1:1 TUTORING RATIO SIMILAR TO THE NORMAL SCHOOL-YEAR PROGRAM.THE AFTER-SCHOOL-CARE PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO ALL STUDENTS BEGINING AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY AT 3:10 P.M. AND ENDING AT 5:45 P.M. VARIOUS ACTIVITIES DURING THAT TIME PERIOD INCLUDE HOMEWORK COMPLETION, ARTS AND CRAFTS, SNACK TIME, AND RECREATION TIME OUTSIDE ON THE FIELDS AND/OR INSIDE THE GYMNASIUM.
