LEE SHORT MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL SEEKS TO SPREAD GOD'S LOVE THROUGH RELIEF/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, OUTREACH, EDUCATION AND ASSISTANCE TO CHILDREN IN OTHER COUNTRIES. WE OPERATED CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY CENTERS IN THE TOWNS OF MEZCALES AND SANVICENTE, MEXICO, THREE LOCATIONS IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, AND ONE LOCATION IN ANSI A PITRE, HAITI. IN MEXICO, WE SERVE HOT FOOD AND PROVIDE ENGLISH CLASSES TAUGHT BY NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS TO HELP CHILDREN PREPARE TO FIND JOBS WORKING IN THE TOURIST INDUSTRY. WE DISTRIBUTE SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND OFFER ASSISTANCE TO NEEDY FAMILIES IN THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY. WE HAVE A TOTAL OF 120 CHILDREN IN THESE PROGRAMS. WE ALSO HOLD SPECIAL OUTREACHES AND EVENTS FOR THE COMMUNITIES AND HAVE A MINIMUM OF 600 ATTENDEES FOR THESE EVENTS. WE PROVIDE SUPPLIES FOR CHILDREN TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES AND GROUPS WHERE THEY LEARN SKILLS. WE PURCHASED COSTUMES FOR CHILDREN THAT WERE LEARNING CULTURAL DANCES. THERE IS A LIMITED PROGRAM OF ASSISTANCE TO HELP IMPROVE THE HOMES OF CHILDREN WHEN THEY PROVIDE INSUFFICIENT SHELTER HELPING ONE OR TWO FAMILIES A YEAR PUT IN WINDOWS, WALLS AND ROOFS. WE PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTE MEDICINE ON A LIMITED BASIS ACCORDING TO NEEDS, HOST DOCTORS AND DENTISTS TO MINISTER TO THE CHILDREN. WE ALSO HELD CAMP SUNSHINE NEBRASKA AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER, A CHILDREN'S CAMP WHICH CONCLUDED WITH A FAMILY NIGHT ATTENDED BY COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHERE THE CHILDREN SANG AND PERFORMED DRAMA. 100 CHILDREN ATTENDED THE CAMP AND 150 ATTENDED THE CLOSING CEREMONY. THERE WERE PROGRAMS FOR THE MOTHERS OF THESE CHILDREN TO GIVE ENCOURAGEMENT AND HELP IN PARENTING. WEEKLY STUDIES AND SPECIAL SPEAKERS ARE INVITED TO SPEAK IN THE COMMUNITY CENTER TO PARENTS WITH GROUPS OF 75 IN ATTENDANCE IN THESE EVENTS. THE COMMUNITY CENTER IS ALSO UTILIZED BY THE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AS A SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY FOR SPECIAL COMMUNITY MEETINGS. THEE COMMUNITY CENTERS ARE HUBS OF ACTIVITY FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES. IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND HAITI, WE PROVIDE CHILDREN TUTORING TO IMPROVE THEIR GRADES IN PUBLIC SCHOOL. WE ALSO PROVIDED FOOD AND ASSISTANCE FOR THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE HAVE 200 CHILDREN IN THE DR AND HAITI PARTICIPATING IN THESE PROGRAMS. WE ALSO REACH OUT TO THEIR EXTENDED FAMILIES AND HOLD OUTREACHES FROM VIDA CHURCHES. THE WELL IN THE OVIEDO CENTER IS OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY TO COME AND GET POTABLE WATER TO CARRY HOME FOR THOSE WITH NO WELL OR SOURCE OF CLEAN WATER. WE ALSO ADDRESS INDIVIDUAL NEEDS ON A LIMITED BASIS PROVIDING BABY SUPPLIES, BEDDING AND CLOTHING FOR CHILDREN AS THE NEED ARISES. WE ALSO PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTE MEDICINES WHEN POSSIBLE. THE PEDERNALES CENTER IS WORKING TOWARD OFFERING THE COMMUNITY PUBLIC TYPE BATHROOMS WITH SHOWERS FOR THOSE WITH NO FACILITIES IN THEIR HOME.
