PEN/FAULKNER'S EDUCATION PROGRAMS PROVIDE FREE BOOKS, AUTHOR VISITS, AND WRITING INSTRUCTION FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-12 WHO ATTEND TITLE I SCHOOLS IN WASHINGTON, DC. IN FY21, WE SERVED 4,007 STUDENTS AND 59 EDUCATORS AT 41 DIFFERENT SCHOOLS. THE GOAL OF OUR PROGRAMS IS TO INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION OF READERS AND WRITERS.
PEN/FAULKNER'S LITERARY PROGRAMS BRING DISTINGUISHED AUTHORS INTO CONVERSATION BOTH WITH EACH OTHER AND WITH DIVERSE AUDIENCES ABOUT MATTERS OF URGENT PUBLIC INTEREST. OUR AWARDS PROGRAMS HONOR SIGNIFICANT LITERARY ACHIEVEMENTS. THE PEN/FAULKNER AWARED IS UNIQUE AMONG LITERARY PRIZES FOR BEING JURIED SOLELY BY WRITERS.
