PERMANENT/SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROJECTS - IN 2023, THE FOUNDATION COMPLETED 8 PROJECTS TO HELP KEEP DISABLED AND VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS IN SAFE HOUSING. PROJECTS INVOLVED INSTALLING SAFE BASEMENT EGRESS TO MEET BUILDING CODE, MODERNIZING BATHROOM AND LAUNDRY FACILITIES FOR BETTER ACCESSIBILITY, WHOLE HOUSE PAINTING, AND STEPPING IN TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY REPLACEMENT OF THE HVAC SYSTEM DURING THE WINTER. ADDITIONALLY, HBCF SUPPORTED A GRAND TOTAL OF 14 LOCAL VOLUNTEER REBUILDING PROGRAMS THAT ASSIST LOW-INCOME FAMILIES THAT OWN THEIR HOMES BUT CANNOT AFFORD NEEDED REPAIRS.
TEMPORARY/TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROJECTS - IN 2023, THE FOUNDATION UPGRADED 9 BATHROOMS WITH NEW ENERGY-EFFICIENCY FIXTURES AT A 17-BED SHELTER FOR HOMELESS MEN IN BALTIMORE CITY. ADDITIONALLY, HBCF COMPLETED EXTENSIVE STORMWATER MANAGEMENT WORK AT A 43-BED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER AND HELPED RENOVATE TWO HEAVILY-USED BATHROOMS AT A 74-BED RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS - THE FOUNDATION HOSTED ITS ANNUAL COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE WITH THE AMERICAN RED CROSS TO HELP RESTOCK DEPLETED BLOOD SUPPLIES. IT HELD A HOLIDAY DRIVE PROVIDING GIFT CARDS TO 150 LOW-INCOME AND HOMELESS FAMILIES WHO RARELY HAVE ENOUGH FUNDS TO COVER THE BASIC NECESSITIES (E.G., FOOD, CLOTHING, ETC.). A TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS HELPED BEAUTIFY THE GROUNDS OF A RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT FACILITY AS WELL.
