EDUCATION (ART EDUCATION): MPA ARTS EDUCATION, ENROLLING AROUND 1,300 INDIVIDUALS IN 130+ VISUAL ARTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL AGES, LEVELS OF SKILL, AND MEDIA PREFERENCE. LED BY MPA'S 18-MEMBER FACULTY, ALL WORKING ARTISTS AND EXPERIENCED EDUCATORS, CLASSES INCLUDE EIGHT WEEKS OF FULLDAY SUMMER ART CAMPS; 8-10 WEEK VISUAL ARTS COURSES PER SEASON, FOR ADULTS AND KIDS, INCLUDING CLASSICAL TECHNIQUES, TECHNOLOGY, AND NEW MEDIA; AND FAMILY WORKSHOPS.
EXHIBITIONS (ART GALLERY): MPA IS REGARDED AS ONE OF THE BEST VENUES IN THE GREATER WASHINGTON AREA FOR ARTISTS TO EXHIBIT AND THE PUBLIC TO VIEW CONTEMPORARY ART. MPA PRESENTS 12 TO 18 PROFESSIONALLY CURATED OR JURIED EXHIBITIONS BY REGIONAL ARTISTS EACH YEAR. EXHIBITIONS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR EACH EXHIBITION INCLUDES A GALLERY TALK BY THE EXHIBITING ARTIST(S) OR CURATOR, AND MAY ALSO INCLUDE LECTURES, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, FAMILY WORKSHOPS AND DOCENT-LED TOURS. EVERY MARCH WE PRESENT THE YOUTH ART SHOW FEATURING WORKS BY STUDENTS ATTENDING 12 PUBLIC ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE AREA. MPA IS A MUSEUM PARTNER OF THE VIRGINIA MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS (VMFA) AND BRINGS SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS FROM THE VMFA TO MCLEAN.
MPAARTFEST, A FREE ANNUAL VISUAL ARTS CELEBRATION HELD AT MCLEAN CENTRAL PARK IN OCTOBER. AROUND 6,000 ATTENDEES CAN PURCHASE WORK FROM OVER 50 JURIED ARTISTS, ENJOY STEAM ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES, LIVE MUSIC, LOCAL FOOD VENDORS, AND A CHILDREN'S ART WALK CELEBRATING LOCAL YOUNG ARTISTS.
