EDUCATION: SHARING HOME - RESEARCHED AND WROTE AN EXTENSIVE HUMANE EDUCATION CURRICULUM FOR SECULAR SCHOOLS, ELEMENTARY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL GRADES, INCLUDING 100 LESSON PLANS, FACT SHEETS AND RESOURCE MATERIALS. THESE MATERIALS ARE SUITABLE FOR SCHOOLS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. THEY ARE CURRENTLY BEING TRANSLATED INTO SPANISH AND A VERSION SUITABLE FOR USE IN JEWISH SCHOOLS IS BEING WRITTEN.
SUCCESSFULLY CAMPAIGNED AGAINST THE PHENOMENON OF HORSE AND DONKEY-DRAWN CARTS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. THESE ANIMALS ARE OFTEN ABUSED, AND WHEN THEY ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO WORK, ARE ABANDONED. THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION ADOPTED OUR NEW SUGGESTED REGULATION BANNING THESE VEHICLES FROM CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. THE REGULATION WAS APPROVED BY THE JUSTICE MINISTRY AND THE POLICE AND THE KNESSET ECONOMIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE VOTED IT INTO LAW.
EDUCATION: EXPANDING THE CIRCLE OF COMPASSION - CHAI WROTE THIS HUMANE EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR ARAB ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, INCLUDING TRANSLATING AND SUBTITLING VIDEOS, POWERPOINT PROGRAMS AND OTHER SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS. CHAI CO-SPONSORED A CONFERENCE WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION TO INTRODUCE THE PROGRAM TO ARAB PRINCIPALS, TEACHERS AND OTHER OFFICIALS. THE CONFERENCE WAS SUCCESSFUL, THE PROGRAM WAS ADOPTED, AND IT RAPIDLY SPREAD TO 60 SCHOOLS FOR ALL GRADES THROUGH 7TH. A TRAINING CONFERENCE WAS HELD FOR PARTICIPATING TEACHERS.
