THE FOUNDATION ADMINISTERS THE ALTOS DE CHAVON SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN, THE REGIONAL MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY, THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM AND THE GALLERY, ALL OF WHICH ARE LOCATED IN ALTOS DE CHAVON AND CASA DE CHAVON IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.

PROVIDE FOR TEACHING EXPENSES, STUDENT SERVICES, ADMISSIONS, STUDENT RESIDENCES, PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.


THE MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY, LOCATED IN LA ROMANA AND INAUGURATED IN 1981, DOCUMENTS THE IMPORTANT INDIGENOUS LEGACY OF THE ISLAND OF SANTO DOMINGO AND FUNCTIONS AS A VALUABLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION FOR THE THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS AND VISITORS IT RECEIVES EVERY YEAR. AS A DIVISION WITHIN THE ALTOS DE CHAVN CULTURAL CENTER FOUNDATION, THE MUSEUM FUNCTIONS AS A CENTER OF SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL RESEARCH, OFFERING A BROAD PROGRAM OF TALKS, WORKSHOPS, PRESENTATIONS, TEMPORARY EXHIBITS, AND RESEARCH EXCURSIONS TO RURAL AREAS. THE ART GALLERY AT CHAVN PRESENTS WORKS THAT EXPLORE THE MANY TRENDS IN THE WORLD OF ART. SHOWS INCLUDE VARIOUS ART FORMS PHOTOGRAPHY, PAINTING, DRAWING, SCULPTURE, AND CRAFTS PUTTING VISITORS IN CONTACT WITH THE GREAT VARIETY AND VITALITY OF CONTEMPORARY CULTURAL CURRENTS.DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, SINCE MARCH OF 2020, THE MUSEUM AND GALLERY HAVE BEEN CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. SOME EXPENSES CONTINUE TO BE BILLED, EVEN THOUGH OPERATIONS HAVE TEMPORARILY CEASED. STAFF MEMBERS OF BOTH THE GALLERY AND MUSEUM WERE LAID OFF IN MAY OF LAST YEAR.
