TORTORELL TRUST - LOCAL SUPPORT: CLARENCE G. TORTORELL WAS A MEMBER OF AMVETS POLICE POST 18-IL. AMVETS CHARITIES IS A BENEFICIARY OF HIS TRUST MANAGED BY NORTHERN TRUST. INCOME DERIVED FROM THIS TRUST IS SHARED EQUALLY BY AMVETS CHARITIES AND AMVETS POLICE POST 18. THE INCOME IS USED TO PROVIDE GRANTS AND SUPPORT TO THE VETERANS AT THE AMVETS POLICE POST 18 IN ILLINOIS.
THE CARILLON PROGRAM OPERATES TO HONOR THOSE DEVOTED MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED WITH HONOR AND ARE NOW DECEASED. THE BELLS ARE A LIVING MEMORIAL AND SERVE TO REMIND US OF THE LEGACY AND OF OUR DEBT TO THOSE WHO FOUGHT TO PRESERVE FREEDOM THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. THESE CHIMES ARE HEARD THROUGHOUT MANY NATIONAL CEMETERIES IN THE COUNTRY.
SPECIAL OLIMPICS OF NORTH AMERICA GRANT TO SUPPORT SELECTED PARTICIPANTS' TRAVEL AND SPORTING KIT EXPENSES.
THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES "HEALING HEROES" GRANTS TO AID THE FAMILIES OF VETERANS WHO HAVE BEEN INJURED. THIS ALLOWS THE FAMILIES TO REMAIN CLOSE TO THEIR HEALING LOVED ONES AS THEY RECUPERATE BY HELPING WITH TRANSPORTATION, LODGING, CHILD CARE, AND FOOD COSTS.
