EVENTS- EACH YEAR THE NATIONAL WEATHER ASSOCIATION (NWA) HOSTS A MEETING FOR MEMBERS WHERE THEY HAVE MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO SHARE INFORMATION, NEWS, STUDIES AND CONCERNS RELATED TO OPERATIONAL METEOROLOGY AND RELATED ACTIVITIES. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, A VARIETY OF EVENTS ARE OFFERED THROUGH OR SPONSORED BY NWA. EACH OF THE EVENTS PROVIDES MEMBERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS THAT APPLY TOWARD METEOROLOGY CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS.
PUBLICATIONS - THE NATIONAL WEATHER ASSOCIATION (NWA) PUBLISHES THE OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF OPERATIONAL METEOROLOGY (JOM) WHICH IS A PEER- REVIEWED, ALL-ELECTRONIC JOURNAL WITH AN INTERNATIONAL SCOPE. THE JOM PUBLICATION ALLOWS MEMBERS TO SUBMIT TOPICS RELEVANT TO ALL ASPECTS OF OPERATIONAL METEOROLOGY ON A RANGE OF TIME AND SPACE SCALES. NWA ALSO PUBLISHES AN ELECTRONIC MONTHLY NEWSLETTER CONTAINING RELEVANT ARTICLES ON ASSOCIATION NEWS, RECENT AND HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, MEMBER NEWS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES WITHIN NWA.
METEOROLOGY SEAL PROGRAM - THE NATIONAL WEATHER ASSOCIATION (NWA) PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT OF QUALITY TELEVISION, RADIO AND INTERNET WEATHERCASTING AMONG NWA MEMBERS. THROUGH THE NWA SEAL OF APPROVAL PROGRAM, THE NWA GRANTS TELEVISION/RADIO AND DIGITAL SEALS OF APPROVAL TO NWA MEMBER WEATHERCASTERS IN THE BROADCAST MEDIA (TV/RADIO SEAL) AND IN CYBERSPACE (DIGITAL SEAL) WHO MEET OR EXCEED STANDARDS SET BY THE NWA. THE NWA BROADCAST METEOROLOGY COMMITTEE, WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE NWA BOARD, IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REVIEW AND UPDATE OF THE SEAL OF APPROVAL GUIDELINES, QUALIFICATIONS, AND PROCEDURES, TO ENSURE THE SEAL REMAINS CREDIBLE AND RELEVANT.
