BELLO MACHRE, WHICH MEANS "HOME OF MY HEART" IN GAELIC, PROVIDES A LIFETIME OF LOVING CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN MARYLAND. THE ALMOST 200 PEOPLE SUPPORTED LIVE IN ONE OF THEIR 50 SAFE, BEAUTIFUL HOMES (4 IN CARROLL COUNTY MARYLAND) OR RECEIVE PERSONALIZED CARE IN THEIR OWN HOME BY TRAINED AND COMPASSIONATE CAREGIVERS. EACH PERSON SERVED WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE A MEANINGFUL DAY BASED ON THEIR NEEDS AND DESIRES.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICE PROGRAM: THE BELLO MACHRE RESIDENTIAL SERVICES PROGRAM CARES FOR PEOPLE IN HOMES WHERE THEY FEEL SAFE AND LOVED. A LIVE-IN CAREGIVER GUIDES AND HELPS THOSE SERVED SO THEY CAN GROW AND DEVELOP AND LIVE LIFE TO ITS FULLEST. AS THOSE WE SERVE CONTINUE TO AGE AND DEVELOP MORE COMPLEX MEDICAL NEEDS, FULLY ACCESSIBLE HOMES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A LIFETIME OF CARE. THE AVERAGE PERSON IN RESIDENTIAL SERVICES IS NOW 52 YEARS OLD - THE OLDEST BEING 85 YEARS OLD. SIX NEW PEOPLE WERE WELCOMED INTO THE BELLO MACHRE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM. WE OPENED 1 (ELM AVENUE) FULLY RENOVATED, FULLY ACCESSIBLE HOME TO REPLACE AN OLDER, THREE-PERSON HOME. UNFORTUNATELY, BELLO MACHRE CLOSED 2 THREE-PERSON HOMES (COTTONWOOD AND LIGHT ST.) AND MOVED INDIVIDUALS INTO FOUR-PERSON HOMES. BELLO MACHRE HAS PIVOTED TO ENSURE THE FINANCIAL STRENGTH OF THE ORGANIZATION AS THE PANDEMIC HAS SLOWED THE ADMISSION PROCESS THROUGH STATE REGULATORY AGENCIES. HOWEVER, WE HAVE LEARNED MORE THAN EVER THE RESILIENCY OF OUR STAFF AND THE PEOPLE WE SUPPORT.
THE JESSE AND HERTHA ADAMS RAY OF HOPE PROGRAM PROVIDED 312 DAYS OF RESPITE CARE AND SERVED 17 FAMILIES. THIS MAY INCLUDE SPECIALIZED SUMMER CAMP, PHYSICAL THERAPY, AND ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT EXPENSES. BELLO MACHRE HELPS FAMILIES WITH WHATEVER CHALLENGES THEY MAY FACE DURING HOSPITALIZATIONS, EMERGENCIES, AND VACATIONS - 24-HOURS A DAY - SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.
COMMUNITY SERVICES: THE BELLO MACHRE COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAM PROVIDES A COMPREHENSIVE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL PEOPLE IN COMMUNITY SERVICES. PERSONAL SUPPORTS AND MEANINGFUL DAY PROGRAMS FALL UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF COMMUNITY SERVICES. THIS YEAR 25 NEW PEOPLE JOINED THE COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAM - 11 IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY AND 14 IN CARROLL COUNTY. BELLO MACHRE CURRENTLY SUPPORTS 124 PEOPLE THROUGH ITS PERSONAL SUPPORTS PROGRAM. IN THE MEANINGFUL DAY PROGRAM BELLO MACHRE PROVIDES SERVICES TO 53 PEOPLE (35 IN AA CO. AND 18 IN CC CO). 31 INDIVIDUALS ARE EMPLOYED IN THE COMMUNITY WITH SOME OF OUR GREAT BUSINESS PARTNERS (SCLOGIC, SAFEWAY, CORPORATE BROKERS, FOOD LION, ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE IN ANNAPOLIS, ROYAL FARMS, GIANT FOODS, CINAMARK, MR. CARWASH, AND MORE.).
INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT SERVICES:BELLO MACHRE UNDERSTANDS THE DAILY CHALLENGES FACED BY MANY FAMILIES. TOGETHER THEY DEVELOP A PLAN IDENTIFYING NEEDS AND FINDING RESOURCES THROUGH OUR FAMILY AND SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAM. WHETHER PLANNING FOR A CHILD JUST ENTERING PRE-SCHOOL OR NEEDING IN-HOME CARE FOR A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS AGING, OUR DEDICATED AND TRAINED TEAM HELPS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES PERSONAL ASSISTANCE INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, HELPING FAMILIES CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN, PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION, PURCHASING AND ADMINISTERING MEDICATION, INITIATING AND NAVIGATING STATE FUNDING, AND BUYING MEDICAL ACCESSORIES AND EQUIPMENT.
