THE CALVERTON SCHOOL IS A CO-EDUCATIONAL COLLEGE PREPARATORY DAY SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS IN PRE-SCHOOL THROUGH GRADE 12. THE CAMPUS OCCUPIES 153 ACRES WITH SCIENCE AND ART LABS, A BLACK BOX THEATER, EXPANSIVE PLAYING FIELDS, FOUR RESIDENTIAL HOUSES, NATURE TRAILS, FORESTS, STREAMS AND MARSHLAND, LOCATED BETWEEN THE PATUXENT RIVER AND THE CHESAPEAKE BAY. WITHIN OUR FACULTY, STAFF AND ADMINISTRATORS, THE MAJORITY HOLD ADVANCED DEGREES. OUR AVERAGE CLASS SIZE IS 14 AND STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO IS 7:1. OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS, 98% OF OUR GRADUATES MATRICULATED TO FOUR YEAR BACCALAUREATE-GRANTING INSTITUTIONS.OUR RIGOROUS ACADEMIC PROGRAM INCLUDES EIGHTEEN INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM COURSES. THERE ARE TEN ATHLETIC SPORTS WITH TEAMS AT DIFFERENT COMPETITIVE AND DEVELOPMENTAL LEVELS FOR OUR MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS. IN 2018, TWO ATHLETES WENT ON TO PLAY DIVISION III LACROSSE IN COLLEGE. WE ARE ALSO HOME TO STUDENTS WHO COMPETE IN DC UNITED SOCCER PROGRAM.TECHNOLOGY INCLUDES WIRELESS COMPUTING ON CAMPUS, SMARTBOARDS, IPADS FOR LOWER SCHOOL STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN, 1ST-3RD GRADES AND LAPTOPS FOR STUDENTS IN 4TH AND 5TH GRADE. STUDENTS IN 6TH-12TH GRADES BRING THEIR OWN DEVICES.CALVERTON OFFERS NEED-BASED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS.
