THE BALTIMORE COUNTY FARM BUREAU IS A GRASS ROOTS, NON-GOVERNMENTAL, VOLUNTARY ASSOCIATON WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROMOTE AND PROTECT MARYLAND AGRICULTURE AND RURAL LIFE.

IN SUPPORT OF ITS EDUCATIONAL MISSION, THE BCFB COLLECT CURRENT INFORMATION FOR ITS MEMBERS BY ATTENDING NATIONAL AND LOCAL CONFERENCES ON AGRICULTURE. IN ADDITION TO E-MAIL, TELEPHONE CALLS, AND HOSTING SPECIAL EVENTS (INCLUDING SMALL FARM SEMINARS),EDUCATIONAL AND INFORMATIONAL NEWSLETTERS WERE PROVIDED TO EACH OF THE 1,400 MEMBERS.


THE BCFB PARTICIPATES IN MANY LOCAL AGRICULTURAL EVENTS THAT OFFER OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH. THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE SOME SPECIFIC FOCUS ON URBAN SCHOOLS, IN ORDER TO PROMOTE AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. IN ADDITION, SUPPORT OF THE MOBILE AG LAB HAS HELPED IN EXCESS OF 2000 STUDENTS ANNUALLY BETTER UNDERSTAND LOCAL FOOD SOURCES, AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR CAREERS IN AGRICULTURE.


THE BCFB AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS EACH YEAR TO A MEMBER OF THEIR CHILD, WHO IS PURSUING A DEGREE IN AGRICULTURE AND WHO DEMONSTRATES AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE AG INDUSTRY'S IMPORTANCE IN THE STATE AND COMMUNITY.
