OPERADELAWARE IS A PROFESSIONAL NON-PROFIT OPERA COMPANY WITH A REPUTATION FOR EXCELLENCE IN BOTH OPERA AND ARTS EDUCATION.OPERADELAWARE OPENS THE DOOR TO BOLD, VIBRANT AND CREATIVE OPERATIC PROGRAMMING THAT ENRICHES THE COMMUNITY, TRANSFORMS AUDIENCES, AND ENCOURAGES DIALOGUE.

THE 2021-2022 SEASON SAW A SIGNIFICANT STEP TOWARD PRE-PANDEMIC ATTENDANCE LEVELS. THIS SEASON, OPERADELAWARE ENRICHED THE LIVES OF OVER 8,000 PEOPLE THROUGH PERFORMING OR PRESENTING 34 OPERATIC PERFORMANCES, LECTURES, AND EVENTS THROUGHOUT DELAWARE AND THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION. THE 2021-2022 SEASON ATTRACTED OVER 400 FIRST-TIME PATRONS, AS WELL AS OVER 200 PATRONS FROM OUTSIDE A 30-MILE RADIUS OF WILMINGTON. IN ADDITION, OUR RIVERFRONT STUDIOS SERVED AS HOME TO MANY DELAWARE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE OFFICE, REHEARSAL, PERFORMANCE, AND EVENT SPACE.
OPERADELAWARE'S EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS REACHED UNDERSERVED COMMUNITY CENTERS AND SCHOOLS THROUGH A MULTI-PRONGED APPROACH THAT PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH INSTRUCTION, TRAINING, PRESENTATIONS AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES. THE CURRICULUM, REPERTOIRE AND REHEARSAL TIME ARE CLOSELY TAILORED TO THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF EACH STUDENT BODY. THE PARTICIPATION- BASED PROGRAMS INTEGRATE THE ARTS INTO THE CURRICULUM AS A WAY TO REACH A VARIETY OF LEARNING STYLES. THE 2021-2022 SEASON SAW A RESUMPTION OF PRE-PANDEMIC LEVEL ACTIVITIES OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHOIR PROGRAM, GENERATING OVER 3,400 STUDENT INTERACTIONS. THIS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM IS GEARED TOWARDS YOUNG AUDIENCES AND INTRODUCES CHILDREN TO THE POWER AND BEAUTY OF THE UNAMPLIFIED HUMAN VOICE, WHILE TEACHING IMPORTANT LESSONS ABOUT READING, WRITING, AND MUSIC.
