BEYOND WALLS PROVIDES OUT OF SCHOOL PROGRAMMING TO UNDERSERVED AND UNDER REPRESENTED YOUTH IN MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL IN SELECT MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL SCHOOLS. BEYOND WALLS PROGRAMMING COMBINES ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND ENRICHMENT, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND LEADERSHIP SKILL DEVELOPMENT, AND HEALTH AND WELLNESSS TRAINING THROUGH THE RACQUET SPORT OF SQUASH. STUDENTS RECEIVE ACADEMIC LESSONS FROM A LICENSED TEACHER AND TUTORING SUPPORT FROM OVER A DOZEN UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA STUDENT MENTORS. STUDENTS RECEIVE 75 MINUTES OF ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND HOMEWORK TIME EACH DAY OF PROGRAMMING. ACADEMIC LESSONS FOCUS ON LITERACY DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND LEADERSHIP SKILL DEVELOPMENT. STUDENTS RECEIVE PRIMARILY HOMEWORK SUPPORT FROM UNIVERISTY OF MINNESOTA STUDENT MENTORS.
STUDENTS RECEIVE COACHING AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS TRAINING THROUGH THE RACQUET SPORT OF SQUASH. A SQUASH PROGRAM DIRECTOR AND COACH DESIGN EACH 75 MINUTE COACHING SESSION WITH THE SUPPORT OF SEVERAL BEYOND WALLS STUDENT ALUMNI COACHES AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER SQUASH PLAYERS.
