SUPPORTING TCCL'S EFFORTS TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO THE HALF-MILLION CHILDREN, TEENS, AND ADULTS WHO USE THE LIBRARY. THE TRUST STRIVES TO CULTIVATE THE LOVE OF READING AND LIFE LONG LEARNING BY OFFERING UNIQUE PROGRAMS, SERVICES, AND RESOURCES TO COMMUNITIES IN TULSA COUNTY, THESE PROGRAMS, SERVICES, AND RESOURCES INCLUDE:1) LITERACY AND ESL SALARY SUPPORT2) LITERACY TUTOR SUPPORT3) TCCL STAFF SUPPORT4) TCCL/TLT VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION5) LIBRARY LANDSCAPING6) MATERIALS PURCHASES (BOOKS, RECORDED MATERIALS, DIGITAL MATERIALS, GIVE-AWAY BOOKS)7) BRANCH PROGRAMMING FOR ALL AGES (INFANTS, PRESCHOOL THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL, YOUNG ADULT AND ADULT)8) BOOKMOBILE AND OUTREACH PROGRAMMING9) RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAMS (AFRICAN AMERICAN, HISPANIC, AMERICAN INDIAN AND GENEALOGY)10) YOUNG PEOPLE'S CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST11) ANY GIVEN CHILD PROGRAM12) MISCELLANEOUS TCCL SUPPORT IN AREAS OF MARKETING, PRINTING, AND TRAINING
TCCL'S SUMMER LIBRARY READING PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN, YOUNG ADULTS AND ADULTS, SPONSORED BY THE TULSA LIBRARY TRUST. THE PROGRAM HELPS SET SUMMER READING GOALS FOR ITS PARTICIPANTS. PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE PRIZES FOR REACHING THESE GOALS. NUMEROUS EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES ARE HELD AT BRANCHES THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER TO PROMOTE READING. APPROXIMATELY 51,000 PEOPLE SIGN UP FOR THE PROGRAM, AND APPROXIMATELY 46% OF THE PARTICIPANTS COMPLETE THE PROGRAM/ACHIEVE THE SET READING GOAL.
AUTHOR PROGRAMS: THE TULSA LIBRARY TRUST SUPPORTS LITERACY AND READING BY PROVIDING FUNDING FOR AUTHOR AWARDS AND SUPPORT FOR NUMEROUS AUTHOR PROGRAMS AT TCCL. THE AWARDS GIVEN BY THE TULSA LIBRARY TRUST INCLUDE:-THE HELMERICH DISTINGUISHED AUTHOR AWARD, THE ANNE V. ZARROW AWARD FOR YOUNG READERS, THE SANKOFA FREEDOM AWARD HONORING AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WRITER, THE AMERICAN INDIAN WRITERS AWARD, AND THE BOOKS TO TREASURE ILLUSTRATOR AWARD.-TEEN READ MONTH WHICH INCLUDES PRESENTATIONS BY NATIONALLY KNOWN YOUNG ADULT/GRAPHIC NOVEL AUTHORS, THE ONE BOOK ONE TULSA AND CHAPTERS EVENTS FOR NATIONALLY KNOWN AUTHORS, AND NUMEROUS SMALLER BRANCH PROGRAMS FEATURING LOCAL AND REGIONAL AUTHORS.
