GENERAL MEDICAL SURGICAL PATIENT CARE. BEEBE MEDICAL CENTER EXPERIENCED 9,153 DISCHARGES IN 2021 RESULTING IN 43,080 PATIENT DAYS OF WHICH 5,914 DISCHARGES AND 29,360 PATIENT DAYS WERE COVERED UNDER THE MEDICARE PROGRAM. THE MEDICAID PROGRAM COVERED 1,106 DISCHARGES AND 4,774 PATIENT DAYS. ADDITIONAL VOLUMES ACHIEVED IN 2021 INCLUDE 49,750 EMERGENCY VISITS; 14,784 OPERATING ROOM CASES OF WHICH 118 WERE OPEN HEART SURGERIES; 4,538 CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION PROCEDURES; AND 189,105 OUTPATIENT IMAGING PROCEDURES. TOTAL SELF-PAY INPATIENT DAYS WERE 873 AND SELF-PAY DISCHARGES WERE 165 IN 2021.
BEEBE HOME HEALTH (BHHA) PROGRAM COVERS EASTERN SUSSEX COUNTY. IN 2021, BHHA ADMITTED 3,646 NEW PATIENTS AND HAD AN ACTIVE CASELOAD OF 6,832 PATIENTS. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 63,018 VISITS DURING THE YEAR.
THE MARGARET D ROLLINS SCHOOL OF NURSING CONTINUES TO BE FULLY CERTIFIED. THE SCHOOL HAD A TOTAL OF 78 STUDENT ENROLLED IN FY21, 30 SENIORS AND 48 FIRST YEAR STUDENTS.
