SEDGWICK COUNTY ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY WORKS TO FOSTER PUBLIC INTEREST AND SUPPORT FOR THE SEDGWICK COUNTY ZOO, BY OPERATING AND MAINTAINING THE ZOO. THE ZOO HAS SEEN STEADY PROGRESS THROUGH THE PAST FIVE DECADES WITH MAJOR EXHIBITS OPENING EVERY FEW YEARS. THE ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY ALSO PROMOTES EDUCATION AND RESEARCH TO BETTER AID IN THE MANAGEMENT AND PRESERVATION OF BOTH ZOO AND WILD ANIMALS.

OPERATIONS OF THE SEDGWICK COUNTY ZOO. SEDGWICK COUNTY ZOO IS ACCREDITED BY THE ASSOCIATION OF ZOOS AND AQUARIUMS AND IS NATIONALLY RENOWNED. IT IS ONE OF THE LARGEST ZOOS IN THE UNITED STATES AND IS KANSAS' MOST POPULAR TOURIST ATTRACTION WITH OVER HALF A MILLION VISITORS ANNUALLY. THE SEDGWICK COUNTY ZOO HAS OVER 2,500 ANIMALS OF NEARLY 500 SPECIES.
