IT IS OUR MISSION TO INCREASE CONSUMER AWARENESS; TO STRENGTHEN RETAIL AND PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS INSTITUTIONS; TO INCREASE THE ECONOMIC VITALITY OF THE CITY'S CENTER AND TO PROMOTE AND ATTRACT NEW BUSINESSES TO THE DOWNTOWN.

DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN, INC HAS LONG WORKED TO CREATE AND GROW A HEALTHY ECONOMIC CITY CENTER ON MULTIPLE FRONTS. OUR MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS ARE ADVOCATING, BEAUTIFYING AND REVITALIZING. THE STAFF AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS ADVOCATE FOR ORDINANCES AND INITIATIVES THAT SUPPORT AND BOLSTER OUR SMALL BUSINESS COMMUNITY. WE WORK WITH LOCAL AND STATE OFFICIALS TO ENACT OR REVISE LEGISLATION THAT SUPPORTS SMALL BUSINESSES AND THEIR SPECIAL NEEDS. WE CREATE PROGRAMMING AND EVENTS THAT BRING PATRONS AND VISITORS TO THE DISTRICT AND IN DOING SO, GENERATES SALES TAX REVENUE. DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN, INC STAFF ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE AND KEEPING OF THE DISTRICT AND IT IS PART OF OUR MISSION ALONG WITH THE CITY OF MANHATTAN TO ENSURE THAT OUR PUBLIC SPACES ARE CLEAN, BEAUTIFUL AND AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE. WE WORK TO ACHIEVE AN APPEALING AESTHETIC IN EVERY SEASON WITH OUR FLAG/BANNER PROGRAM, FLOWER BASKETS, HOLIDAY LIGHTING AND EVENT PROPS AND DECOR. THE DMI BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ADVOCATE FOR THE REVITALIZATION AND REPURPOSING OF TIRED AND WORN BUILDINGS AND SPACES.
