FRIENDS IN SOLIDARITY IS A PUBLIC, CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION WHICH RAISES AWARENESS OF AND EDUCATES THE PUBLIC REGARDING THE NEEDS IN SOUTH SUDAN, PROVIDING FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL SUPPORT FOR THE EDUCATION OF THE PEOPLE.

CATHOLIC HEALTH TRAINING INSTITUTE - OPERATIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE TRAINING OF REGISTERED NURSES AND MIDWIVES. DESPITE THE CLOSING OF THE CHTI FROM MARCH TO OCTOBER 2020 DUE TO COVID19, 39 STUDENTS GRADUATED FROM THE THREE YEAR PROGRAM IN JUNE 2022. THIS PROGRAM IS BASED IN WAU, SOUTH SUDAN AND IS THE FIRST REGISTERED NURSES PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY. IT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2010 AND SINCE 2013 HAS MATRICULATED 307 HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS. THIS PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY SOLIDARITY WITH SOUTH SUDAN AND THE CATHOLIC PRIESTS, BROTHERS AND SISTERS WORKING TOGETHER WITH THE LAITY TO BUILD THE CAPACITY OF THE PEOPLE. THE BUILDINGS, RENOVATED WITH FUNDING FROM CATHOLIC ORGANIZATIONS ARE THE PROPERTY OF THE SUDAN CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONFERENCE.
SOLIDARITY TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE- FRIENDS IN SOLIDARITY SUPPORTED THE TWO YEAR-PRESERVICE TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM AND THE IN-SERVICE PROGRAM, WHICH UPGRADES EXISTING TEACHERS. 796 CERTIFIED TEACHERS HAVE GRADUATED FROM THE TWO PROGRAMS SINCE 2013. 25% OF THE GRADUATES ARE WOMEN. 23 STUDENTS GRADUATED IN OCTOBER 2022 AND37 NEW STUDENTS ENROLLED IN JULY 2022. CURRENTLY THERE ARE 133 PRE-SERVICE STUDENTS ON CAMPUS, A NEW DIPLOMA PROGRAM (YEAR 3) WAS INITIATED IN JULY 2022 WITH 15 STUDENTS. THERE IS A NEED FOR 26,000 TEACHERS IN THE COUNTRY AND 70% OF SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN ARE NOT IN SCHOOL..
GOOD SHEPHERD PEACE CENTER - $72,170 WAS GRANTED FOR PROGRAMS AND STAFF AT THIS CONFERENCE CENTER, THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN THE COUNTRY. IT OFFERS PROGRAMS OF RENEWAL, THE TRAINING OF TRAUMA HEALING PROVIDERS AND PEACE-MAKERS, AS WELL AS COUNSELING WORKSHOPS AND RETREATS. SOLIDARITY WITH SOUTH SUDAN ASSUMED MANAGEMENT OF THE FACILITY IN APRIL 2020.
