THE ORGANIZATION FACILITATED PEACE RIVER CENTER'S EFFORT IN OBTAINING NEW MARKETS TAX CREDIT FUNDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CRISIS CAMPUS IN LAKELAND, FLORIDA. THE NMTC PROGRAM PERMITS TAXPAYERS TO CLAIM A CREDIT AGAINST FEDERAL INCOME TAXES FOR QUALIFIED EQUITY INVESTMENTS (QEI) IN DESIGNATED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ENTITIES (CDES). THESE DESIGNATED CDES MUST USE SUBSTANTIALLY ALL (85%) OF THE PROCEEDS TO MAKE QUALIFIED LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS (QLICI). THE TAXPAYING INVESTOR IS PROVIDED WITH A TAX CREDIT WHICH IS CLAIMED OVER A SEVEN-YEAR PERIOD.
