THE MISSION OF VIETNAMESE-AMERICAN SERVICES IS TO DEVELOP PARTNERSHIPS WITH BUSINESS, SCHOOLS, FAITH COMMUNITIES AND LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE VIETNAMESE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS ASSISTING THEM TO SUCCESSFULLY ASSIMILATE INTO AMERICAN SOCIETY.

AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE ENROLLMENT:VAS IS THE ONLY AGENCY SERVING THE VIETNAMESE COMMUNITY THAT IS CERTIFIED BY THE MARYLAND HEALTH CONNECTION. VAS STAFF HAVE PROVIDED MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND SERVICES TO HELP VIETNAMESE COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ENROLL IN ELIGIBLE HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAMS.


SENIOR LOW INCOME FAMILY ASSISTANCE: VAS HELPS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SENIORS AND PEOPLE AT RISK. VAS SUPPORTS SENIORS, DISABLED PEOPLE AND LOW-INCOME FAMILIES BY PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING CULTURAL/LINGUISTIC SERVICES TO ASSIST THEM WITH SOCIAL BENEFITS APPLICATIONS AND REFERRAL SERVICES, WHILE ALSO AIMING TO REDUCE ISOLATION AND LONELINESS. VAS HAVE SUPPORTED HUNDREDS OF SENIORS, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY, AND LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. VAS WAS THE ONLY VIETNAMESE AGENCY THAT HELPED VICTIMS OF THE LONG BRANCH FIRE, MANY OF WHOM WERE SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY, WITH DISASTER RELIEF. WE ALSO STARTED THE GOLDEN LOTUS CHARITY GROUP THAT INVITES COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO JOIN AS VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE HOME VISITING PROGRAMS TO ELDERLY WHO LIVE ALONE OR AT NURSING HOME. SINCE OCTOBER 2017, THIS SERVICE GROUP HAS VISITED MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS FROM THE MOST VULNERABLE POPULATION. IN ORDER TO REDUCE ISOLATION & LONELINESS, VAS HOSTS MULTIPLE COMMUNITY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, SUCH AS THE MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL, SENIOR EVENT, AND COMMUNITY PICNIC EVENTS.


ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE CLASS PROGRAM: VAS PROVIDES DROP-IN ENGLISH CLASSES AT NO COST TO SENIORS, NEW IMMIGRANTS, AND LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS. WE ALSO SERVE AS A REFERRAL SERVICE THAT CONNECTS OUR COMMUNITY WITH JOB OPPORTUNITIES. SINCE 2017, WE PROVIDED THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF TEACHING ENGLISH TO HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS AND HELPED MANY PEOPLE GET JOBS WITH THE DIETZ AND WATSON CORPORATION, MERIT LOGISTICS AND OTHER SMALL BUSINESSES. CLASSES SERVE LEARNERS FROM A BEGINNER LEVEL WITH A FOCUS ON DAILY LIFE CONVERSATION AS WELL AS COURSES ON TEACHING STUDENTS TO PASS THE CITIZENSHIP EXAMINATION.


IMMIGRATION, TRANSLATION SERVICES AND JOB TRAINING: VAS PROVIDES A VARIETY OF IMMIGRATION AND TRANSLATION SERVICES IN ORDER TO FURTHER ASSIST OUR COMMUNITY. THESE SERVICES ARE:- CITIZENSHIP APPLICATIONS- GREENCARD APPLICATIONS- US PASSPORT REGISTRATION AND RENEWAL SERVICES- TRANSLATION SERVICES- JOB LINKS & JOB DEVELOPMENT, EMPLOYMENT SERVICES AND CLASSES
