PALAVER STRINGS IS A MUSICIAN-LED STRING ENSEMBLE AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION BASED IN PORTLAND, ME. PALAVER HAS ESTABLISHED ITSELF AS A FORWARD-THINKING ENSEMBLE WHOSE MISSION IS TO STRENGTHEN AND INSPIRE COMMUNITY THROUGH MUSIC. IN OUR MUSICIAN-LED MODEL, PALAVER'S MUSICIANS PRESENT OVER 40 PERFORMANCES A YEAR, SHARE ARTISTIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP, GUIDED BY A PASSION FOR ENGAGING NEW AUDIENCES, ADDRESSING SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES, AND AMPLIFYING UNDERREPRESENTED VOICES.
THE PALAVER MUSIC CENTER OFFERS EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC CLASSES, PRIVATE STRING INSTRUMENT LESSONS, AND SONGWRITING WORKSHOPS TO OVER 200 STUDENTS EACH YEAR FROM INFANCY TO ADULTHOOD. BY OPERATING ON A FLEXIBLE INCOME- BASED TUITION MODEL AND TEACHING AT TRANSIT-ACCESSIBLE LOCATIONS IN DOWNTOWN PORTLAND, WE MAKE OUR PROGRAMS ACCESSIBLE TO STUDENTS OF DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS.
