Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
UGANDA ORDERED SCHOOLS CLOSED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC AND DID NOT PERMIT COMPLETE SCHOOL REOPENINGS UNTIL EARLY 2022 THE LONGEST SCHOOL CLOSURE IN THE WORLD. DURING THE TAX YEAR WE HELPED TO SUPPORT STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH PROVIDING SUPPORT TO THE SCHOOL TO: BRING TEACHERS BACK TO SCHOOL FOR ONE WEEK PER MONTH TO PREPARE STUDY MATERIALS FOR STUDENTS TO USE AT HOME; AND CONTINUE TO PAY ALL STAFF TO ENSURE THEIR HEALTH AND WELFARE AND ABILITY TO RETURN TO CLASSES ONCE THEY RESTARTED. DURING THE TAX YEAR WE ALSO RAISED FUNDS DURING A PERIOD OF EXTREME FOOD INSECURITY TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FOOD FOR THOSE OF OUR STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN THE MOST PRESSING NEED. WE ALSO PAID TO MAINTAIN THE SCHOOL COMPOUND IN GOOD AND SAFE CONDITION ENSURING THAT NOTHING DETERIORATED DURING THIS LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND THAT THE ENTIRE INFRASTRUCTURE WOULD BE READY TO REOPEN WHEN THE GOVERNMENT PERMITTED. IN ADDITION IN YEARS OTHER THAN THE TAX YEAR WHEN TRAVEL TO UGANDA WAS PERMITTED SOME EB DIRECTORS SUPPORTED THE SCHOOL BY TRAVELING TO UGANDA AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE TO PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTARY INSTRUCTION HOME VISITS AND OTHER ASSISTANCE TO THE SCHOOL AND STUDENTS.
