QUEEN CITY BICYCLE COLLECTIVE'S MISSION IS TO GET, AND KEEP, THE MANCHESTER COMMUNITY RIDING BICYCLES, SAFELY AND AFFORDABLY.

OPEN SHOP/DO-IT-TOGETHER BIKE REPAIR SERVICES: QC BIKE PROVIDES DO-IT- TOGETHER BIKE REPAIR SERVICES FOR THE COMMUNITY. THE TOOLS ARE IN THE BIKE USERS' HANDS WHENEVER POSSIBLE. WE USE MOSTLY RECYCLED PARTS, CULLED FROM DONATED BIKES. THERE WERE 1,016 DOCUMENTED SERVICE VISITS BY 559 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS DURING THIS FY.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: IN FY 21, QC BIKE EXPANDED ITS EFFORTS BEYOND THE PREVIOUS THREE ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO CULTIVATE AND NURTURE THE BIKE COMMUNITY IN MANCHESTER. WE EMPLOYED TWO COMMUNICATIONS MANAGERS; HELD EIGHT COMMUNITY EVENTS; AND, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY, INSTALLED TEN BIKE- RELATED AMENITIES IN PUBLIC PLACES, THROUGHOUT MANCHESTER.
VOUCHERED PROGRAMS, SUPPORTED BY GRANT/DONOR FUNDS, WHERE THE BIKE IS FREE OR VERY AFFORDABLE TO THE END USER. THE LARGEST SUCH PROGRAM WE OFFER IS EARN-A-BIKE. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MANCHESTER HEALTH DEPARTMENT, QC BIKE PROVIDES 120-150 BIKE PACKAGES (CONSISTING OF REFURBISHED BIKES, LIGHTS, LOCKS & HELMETS) TO HIGH-ACHIEVING 4TH & 5TH GRADERS AT 2 LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
OPEN SHOP/SALE OF BICYCLES: QC BIKE TAKES IN DONATED BIKES AND REBUILDS OR SCRAPS THEM FOR PARTS. ALL WORN MATERIALS (INCLUDING TIRES & TUBES) ARE RECYCLED RESPONSIBLY. RECYCLED PARTS ARE USED TO REBUILD BIKES OR REPAIR BIKES DURING OPEN SHOP. THERE WERE 170 BIKES REBUILT AND SOLD THIS YEAR.
