THE MISSION OF BEN D JOHNSON EDUCATIONAL CENTER IS TO BUILD COMMUNITY IN NATCHITOCHES AND GIVE ACCESS TO SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC SUCCESS FOR ALL ITS RESIDENTS. THIS IS DONE BY OFFERING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, JOB SPECIFIC TRAINING, AND ASSISTANCE IN REMOVING BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT TO GIVE INDIVIDUALS A ROUTE OUT OF POVERTY.

THE ORGANIZATION BECAME A SNAP PROVIDER AND NOW PROVIDES SERVICES TO INDIVIUDALS 17 AND ABOVE, WITH THE HOPES OF PUTTING THEM IN POSITIONS TO EARN LIVING WAGES. ALSO, DURING THE YEAR, THE CENTER DEVELOPED A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BOSSIER CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO OFFER NERCC CERTIFICATIONS AS WELL AS FORKLIFT, OSHA 10/30 HOUR CERTIFICATIONS. THE CENTER CONTINUES IT ORIGINAL TRAINING IN FOODSERVICE AND INDIVIDUALS CAN EARN THEIR SERVSAFE CERTIFICATION. PARTICIPANTS ALSO GET TRAINING IN JOB READINESS AND OTHER ASSISTANCE SUCH AS TRANSPORTATION, CHILDCARE, CLOTHING AND GUIDED TO OTHER RESOURCES SUCH AS BEHAVIOR HEALTH, TO HELP REMOVE BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT. OVER 40 GRADUATES RECEIVED CERTIFICATIONS AND 73% HAVE GAINED EMPLOYMENT OR BETTER PAYING JOBS.
