Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
NATIVE HOPE'S AWARENESS PROGRAM EDUCATES PEOPLE ABOUT THE INJUSTICES DONE TO NATIVE AMERICANS AND HISTORICAL TRAUMA'S EFFECT ON THE LOSS OF CULTURE. THIS PROGRAM'S FUNDING ALLOWS US TO RAISE AWARENESS THROUGH WRITING BLOGS, PROVIDING RESOURCES, CREATING VIDEOS, ATTENDING/SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS, EVENTS, AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES ON ISSUES THAT AFFECT NATIVE AMERICA. THE EFFORTS OF THIS PROGRAM HELP TO INSPIRE HOPE AND PROVIDE HEALING. NATIVE HOPE HAS A 3-YEAR GRANT AGREEMENT OF $85,000 WITH THE SOUTH DAKOTA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE TO FUND THE OFFICE OF LIAISON FOR MISSING AND MURDERED INDIGENOUS PERSONS. NOT ONLY ARE WE EDUCATING BUT WE ALSO STRIVE TO DISMANTLE BARRIERS THROUGH POSITIVE STORYTELLING. WE DO THIS BY FACILITATING NATIVE STORIES AND THE STORIES OF ORGANIZATIONS HELPING NATIVE AMERICANS IN ORDER TO ENSURE THESE VOICES ARE HEARD.
OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM ALLOWS US TO PROVIDE RESOURCES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM MOST. WITH NATIVE'S LIVING IN REMOTE AREAS NATIVE HOPE HAS ALSO BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE THE ESSENTIALS THAT THEY OTHERWISE MIGHT NOT HAVE HAD THE CHANCE IN HAVING (I.E. HYGIENE ITEMS, BABY ITEMS, CLEANING PRODUCTS TO HELP WITH THE SPREAD OF DISEASE) TO HELP.
OUR MENTORSHIP PROGRAM ALLOWS FOR NATIVE HOPE TO PARTNER WITH PROGRAMS IN NATIVE COMMUNITIES WHO ARE MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT. SINCE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR SUCH PROGRAMS ON RESERVATIONS IS OFTEN LIMITED, FUNDING FOR THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS NATIVE HOPE TO PROVIDE MUCH-NEEDED RESOURCES TO ASSIST WITH THEIR EFFORTS. OUR MENTORSHIP PROGRAM ALSO ALLOWS US TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR GED SCHOLARSHIPS. THIS INCLUDES GED PRACTICE EXAMS, EXAMS AND TRAVEL VOUCHERS
THE NATIVE HOPE FELLOWS PROGRAM OFFERS NATIVE AMERICAN LEADERS WHO CREATE A POSITIVE IMPACT ACROSS INDIAN COUNTRY WITH UP TO $5,000 IN FUNDING TO ADVANCE THEIR INITIATIVE OR PROGRAM. TRAVEL EXPENSE MONEY FOR REPRESENTING NATIVE HOPE AT SPECIFIC EVENTS THAT PERTAIN TO THEIR FELLOWSHIP IS INCLUDED. THE GRANT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE AGREED UPON YEAR, AS NEEDED.
