NATIVE HOPE'S AWARENESS PROGRAM PROVIDES EDUCATION TO PEOPLE REGARDING INJUSTICES COMMITTED TO NATIVE AMERICANS AND HISTORICAL TRAUMA'S EFFECT ON THE LOSS OF CULTURE. ADDITIONALLY, BRINGING AWARENESS TO BOTH THE CHALLENGES AND THE SUCCESSES OF NATIVE PEOPLE DISMANTLES BARRIERS FOR VOICES UNHEARD THROUGH POSITIVE STORYTELLING. THE EFFORTS OF THIS PROGRAM HELP TO INSPIRE HOPE AND PROVIDE HEALING. IN 2022, NATIVE HOPE FUNDED THE OFFICE OF LIAISON FOR MISSING AND MURDERED INDIGENOUS PERSONS. THIS AGREEMENT BETWEEN NATIVE HOPE AND THE SOUTH DAKOTA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE IS A 3-YEAR COMMITMENT OF $85,000 PER YEAR. IN ADDITION TO THE GRANT, NATIVE HOPE CONTINUES TO INCREASE OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND MMIW/P ORGANIZATIONS, TRAINING, TOOLS, RESOURCES, AND OPPORTUNITIES. EXPENDITURES TOWARD DEVELOPING CONTENT ARE PART OF THIS BUDGET, INCLUDING CONTENT WRITTEN BY OUR MARKETING AGENCY, GUEST BLOGGERS, ARTISTS, AND SPEAKERS.
OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM ALLOWS US TO PROVIDE MUCH-NEEDED RESOURCES TO NATIVE AMERICANS ON TRIBAL AND NON-TRIBAL LANDS. AS A NATIVE-LED ORGANIZATION, WE RESPECT THE SOVEREIGNTY OF NATIVE NATIONS. THEIR LEADERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS KNOW THEIR STRENGTHS AND HOW TO SERVE THEIR PEOPLE BEST. WE LISTEN FIRST, WORK ALONGSIDE, AND HONOR PROMISES MADE TO THE NATIVE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THEIR COMMUNITIES TO OFFER RESOURCES AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT INSPIRE HOPE AND FACILITATE SUCCESS. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, WE PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR REQUESTS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ESSENTIALS SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHING, HYGIENE ITEMS, CLEANING SUPPLIES, BABY ITEMS, HOLIDAY GIFTS, WINTER CLOTHING, FANS, SPACE HEATERS, COMMUNITY EVENTS, ETC.
OUR MENTORSHIP PROGRAM ALLOWS NATIVE HOPE TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES THAT INSPIRE HOPE AND FACILITATE SUCCESS. THESE EFFORTS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO OUR GED SCHOLARSHIPS, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES, EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, CULTURAL PRESERVATION OPPORTUNITIES, BULLYING PREVENTION EFFORTS, ETC.
