MARTIN LUTHER KING HIGH SCHOOL - THE ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED THE HOPE FARM IN 2014 TO TEACH LIFE SKILLS AND RELATED URBAN FARMING AND NUTRITION TO STUDENTS AFFECTED BY AUTISM AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. THE HORTICULTURE THERAPY PROGRAM PROVIDES EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING THAT CONNECTS CLASSROOM LESSONS WITH REAL LIFE APPLICATION, FOCUSING PRACTICAL LAND VOCATIONAL LIFE SKILLS THAT LEAD TO INCREASING INDEPENDENCE THROUGH GROWING AND TASTING ACTIVITIES THAT CONNECT TO CTE STANDARDS.


STENTON FAMILY MANOR - THE ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED HOPE GARDEN IN 2009 TO PROVIDE STRUCTURED GARDEN, NUTRITION AND CULINARY PROGRAMS FOR THE RESIDENTS OF STENTON FAMILY MANOR (EMERGENCY HOUSING FACILITIY FOR FAMILIES EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS). TWO MAIN PROGRAMS GARDEN CLUB (5-11 YR OLDS) AND HOPE KITCHEN (ADULT CAREGIVERS) PROVIDE SCRATCH COOKING, TASTING AND GARDENING ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS FRESH PRODUCE GROWN FOR THE KITCHEN, THERBY IMPROVING THE NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF MEALS PROVIDED TO RESIDENTS.


WB SAUL HIGH SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES - THE ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED ITS SECOND GROWING, SCRATCH COOKING AND TASTING ACTIVITIES WITH YOUTH AT THIS SITE IN 2008. YEAR -ROUND YOUTH PROGRAMS FOCUS ON SUPPORTING HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH WITH AN OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AND LAND LAB AS THEY CONNECT TO THEIR CTE STANDARDS. IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CO-OPS ON SITE FARM THIS SITE IS A SETTING FOR HANDS ON LEARNING RELATED TO SMALL-SCALE URBAN FOOD PRODUCTION AS WELL AS HOW TO PREPARE AND ENJOY NUTRITIOUS FOOD AND ENTREPRENEURIAL BUSINESS PLANNING.


THIS AMOUNT INCLUDES ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS THAT WERE EXPENSED DUE TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF OTHER PROJECTS.
