Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
ROUND THE BEND FARM (RTB), A CENTER FOR RESTORATIVE COMMUNITY, LOCATED IN DARTMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS IS A WORKING FARM AND EDUCATIONAL NON-PROFIT. WE ARE A LIVING LABORATORY THAT CULTIVATES, EDUCATES, AND EMPOWERS PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. WE ARE DEVOTED TO THE GLOBAL PARADIGM SHIFT TOWARD HOPE AND ABUNDANCE BY VALUING DIVERSITY, MODELING NATURE, AND REDEFINING WEALTH.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
OUR PROGRAMMING TAKES PLACE ON A WORKING FARM AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER, WHICH GIVES A HANDS-ON, MODELING-BASED EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM. WE HOLD FIELD TRIPS FOR ALL AGES AND PROVIDE SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL LESSONS BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE STUDENT. WE ACT AS A LIVING LABORATORY SO THERE ARE MANY "EXPERIMENTS" HAPPENING ON THE FARM, INCLUDING THE USE OF COMPOSTING TOILETS, LIVING IN TINY HOUSES (WITH LESS "STUFF" TO CLUTTER OUR LIVES), BUILDING WITH MATERIALS THAT ARE AS SUSTAINABLE AS POSSIBLE (REUSING MATERIALS FIRST, IF WE CAN FOR A CERTAIN APPLICATION), UTILIZING ROTATIONAL GRAZING METHODS FOR ANIMALS, GROWING CHEMICAL-FREE "CLEAN" VEGETABLES AND HERBS, CREATING OUR OWN SOAPS AND TINCTURES, FERMENTING VARIOUS TYPES OF FOOD, AND SO MUCH MORE. ALL OF THESE TOPICS WE CAN TEACH TO EVERY DIFFERENT STRATA OF HUMANITY. WE BELIEVE THAT DIVERSITY IS AT THE UTMOST OF NATURE'S SUCCESS AND WILL BE OURS AS A NON-PROFIT AND AS A COUNTRY. WE BRING DIVERSE PARTICIPANTS AND HAVE A DIVERSE TEAM. WE HOLD OPEN FARM DAYS, WHICH ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO ATTEND, AND WE PUT ON MANY WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, OFFERING SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ALL OF THEM, THEREFORE MAKING THEM AS ACCESSIBLE AS WE CAN. WE HAVE RECENTLY PARTNERED WITH AMERICORP, HOSTING THEIR TERRACORPS PROGRAM. AND WE HOST MANY VOLUNTEERS, WHERE WE WORK SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH THEM IN A HANDS-ON, MENTOR-MENTEE RELATIONSHIP. WE BELIEVE IN THE ORGANIC PROCESS OF DEVELOPING PROGRAMMING AND HOPE TO CONTINUE TO EXPAND AND IMPROVE IN THE YEARS TO COME.
