THE MISSION OF THE ROATAN MARINE PARK INTERNATIONAL (RMPI) IS TWOFOLD. FIRST TO FACILITATE ENFORCEMENT OF HONDURAN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION LAWS, CREATE A SENSE OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY THROUGH EDUCATION OF RESIDENTS AND VISITORS, AND TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT FOR PARTICIPATORY CONSERVATION OF ROATANS COASTAL AND MARINE RESOURCES. SECOND TO PROTECT AND PROVIDE A HEALTHY AND SUSTAINABLE MARINE ENVIRONMENT OFF ROATAN CAPABLE OF CARRYING OUT ITS ECOLOGICAL FUNCTION WHILE MAINTAINING ITS CAPACITY TO PROVIDE THE ECOSYSTEM GOODS AND SERVICES (FISHERIES, AESTHETIC AND CULTURAL VALUES) THAT FOSTER SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS. RMPI WORKS TO MAXIMIZE THE FLOW OF RESOURCES, GRANTS AND DONATIONS TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL EFFORTS IN ROATAN, HONDURAS. THE RMPI HAS OPERATIONAL EXPENSES OF $1,511 AND DONATED $185,225 IN THE FORM OF $116,834 IN UNRESTRICTED DONATIONS AND PASSED ALONG THE TWO GRANTS WORTH $68,391 ACTING AS THE FISCAL SPONSOR TO THE ROATAN MARINE PARK HONDURAS NGO NONPROFIT TO SUPPORT OUR MISSION OF MARINE CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION. RMPI HAD $105,473 OF FUNDS LEFT TO DISTRIBUTE TO THE RMP AT THE END OF THE YEAR TO SUPPORT FOLLOW ON WORK IN THE FOLLOWING YEAR.
