TO ASSURE THAT ALL CHILDREN LIVING IN THE GEOPGRAPHIC AREA IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF VA THAT INCLUDES CITY OF HOPEWELL, PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, SUSSEX COUNTY, DINWIDDIE COUNTY, SURRY COUNTY, GREENSVILLE COUNTY, AND THE CITY OF EMPORIA, RECEIVE THE BEST QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND ARE PREPARED ACADEMICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, SOCIALLY, PHYSICALLY, AND MENTALLY FOR KINDERGARTEN.

CONNECTING FAMILIES TO AGENCIES AND PROGRAMS WHICH PROVIDE SERVICES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. PROVIDE PARENT TRAINING THROUGH PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES IN COLLABORTAION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS. TRAIN CHILD CARE TEACHERS, FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS AND CHILD CARE DIRECTORS THROUGH WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND INDIVIDUAL COACHING. PROMOTE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENINGS FOR CHILDREN BIRTH TO THREE THROUGH USE OF THE AGES AND STAGES QUESTIONNAIRE. TRANSITION CHILDREN INTO KINDERGARTEN THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL SCHOOL SYSTEMS.
PROMOTE QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION THROUGH THE VIRGINIA STAR QUALITY INITIATIVE (VSQI). THE VSQI AWARDS PROGRAMS ONE TO FIVE STAR LEVELS OF INCEASING QUALITY. AFTER RECEIVING AN INITIAL RATING, PROGRAMS ARE GIVEN TOOLS TO IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY THROUGH MENTORING AND OTHER ASSISTANCE.
