TO PROMOTE AND DEEPEN PUBLIC APPRECIATION OF THE LITERARY ARTS THROUGH PRESERVATION OF BOOK COLLECTIONS, BOOK SHARING THROUGH LIBRARY SERVICES, BOOK RELATED CULTURAL PROGRAMMING AND WORKSPACE FOR WRITERS AND OTHERS.

FOLIO PROVIDES INCLUSIVE AND ACCESSIBLE SPACE TO READ, WRITE, AND WORK. LOCATED AT THE HEART OF PIKE PLACE MARKET, FOLIO'S READING ROOMS ARE HOME TO A CIRCULATING BOOK COLLECTION OF OVER 11,000 BOOKS, AND MANY LITERARY AND CULTURAL PERIODICALS. FREE BOOKS ARE DISTRIBUTED FROM OUR PIKE PLACE MARKET LOCATION TO NUMEROUS OTHER NON-PROFITS IN SEATTLE WHICH INCLUDE LITERARY ORGANIZATIONS AND FOOD BANKS. AS A PUBLIC CULTURAL HUB, FOLIO OFFERS LIVELY AND DIVERSE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONVERSATION, CONNECTION, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, AND CULTURAL ENRICHMENT THROUGH INTIMATE AUTHOR READINGS, CIVIC PANEL DISCUSSIONS, MUSICAL EVENINGS, BOOK DISCUSSION GROUPS, AND PHILOSOPHY AND POETRY CLUBS. MANY OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED FREE OR AT LOW COST AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORES, UNIVERSITIES AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2021 OVER 700 AUDIENCE MEMBERS ATTENDED 34 PROGRAMS AT FOLIO AND ONLINE VIA ZOOM.
