GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS - BECAUSE SO FEW SPECIALIZED PROSTHETIC DEVICES ARE COVERED BY HEALTH INSURANCE, THE HEATHER ABBOTT FOUNDATION PROVIDES GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE SUFFERED LIMB LOSS THROUGH TRAUMA. EIGHTY-EIGHT (88) INDIVIDUALS WERE AWARDED WITH SPECIALIZED PROSTHETIC DEVICES IN THE FISCAL YEAR. GRANT APPLICANTS COMPLY WITH A FORMAL GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS AS DESCRIBED ON THE FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE.
RAISE AWARENESS - THE FOUNDATION AIMS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS TO THE ONGOING STRUGGLES OF THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED TRAUMATIC LIMB LOSS THROUGH REGULAR FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND PARTICIPATION IN MARATHONS AND OTHER ATHLETIC/RUNNING EVENTS. THE FOUNDATION ALSO COMMISSIONED AND RELEASED PROFESSIONALLY PRODUCED AWARENESS VIDEOS DOCUMENTING FOUR (4) OF OUR PROSTHESIS BENEFICIARIES IN THIS FISCAL YEAR. THE VIDEOS WERE HIGHLIGHTED AT A FUNDRAISER AS WELL AS BEING UPLOADED TO HAF'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS.
