Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE EXPERIENCES AND RESOURCES THAT TEACH, NURTURE AND UPHOLD THE UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH THAT ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALS TO EMBRACE THE REALITY OF THEIR UNLIMITED POTENTIAL.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
RETAIL STORE - RETAIL SALES IS ONE OF THE WAYS WE SUPPORT OUR SPIRITUAL EDUCATION CENTER. OUR STORE'S MISSION: "IT IS OUR GOAL TO ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALS TO EMBRACE THE REALITY OF THEIR UNLIMITED POTENTIAL AND PROVIDE RESOURCES THAT NOURISH THE MIND, BODY AND SOUL". IN ADDITION TO THE CORE FUNDAMENTAL SPIRITUAL BOOKS, WINGS BOOKSTORE ALSO OFFERS ITEMS THAT SUPPORT THE INSTRUCTORS AND MINISTERS, USING THEIR CURRICULUM, THEIR SUNDAY MESSAGE, OR THE HOLIDAY (CONTINUED ON SCH O) SEASON TO VARY OUR INVENTORY. SEEKERS AND STUDENTS CAN FIND SPIRITUAL AND UPLIFTING BOOKS, STATUES, CARDS, MEDITATION TOOLS, SACRED MUSIC, AND RITUAL ITEMS, TO NOURISH THEIR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE. NOTE: OFTEN WE ARE ASKED ABOUT ONLINE SALES. OUR RESPONSE IS THAT OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE IS SPIRITUAL EDUCATION, WHICH TAKES PLACE ON SITE. ONLINE SALES WOULD NOT COMPLY WITH THE FUNCTION OF SUPPORTING THE STUDENTS, SO WE HAVE ELECTED NOT TO PURSE THAT CHANNEL.
SPIRITUAL EDUCATION - WINGSPAN FOUNDATION, DBA WINGS BOOKSTORE, IS A SPIRITUAL EDUCATION CENTER, SERVING THE COMMUNITY WITH SPIRITUAL CLASSES, BOOK STUDIES, GROUP MEDITATIONS, AND SELF-HEALING CLASSES INCLUDING PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL, AND NUTRITIONAL THERAPIES. SACRED MUSIC MEDITATIONS AND CONCERTS TAKE PLACE IN A SPECIAL ROOM IN THE LEARNING CENTER, WHICH IS ONLY A FEW STEPS FROM WINGS BOOKSTORE, OR IN THE FIRST UNITY SANCTUARY, NEXT DOOR TO THE LEARNING CENTER. OUR INSTRUCTORS INCLUDE MINISTERS, LICENSED UNITY TEACHERS, CERTIFIED THERAPISTS IN VARIOUS MODALITIES, AND PRAYER CHAPLAINS. MOST OF THESE ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED ON A 'LOVE OFFERING' (CONTINUED ON SCH O) BASIS. IN SOME CASES, ATTENDEES HAVE THE OPTION TO PRE-REGISTER ONLINE; HOWEVER, FOR MOST OF THE CLASSES, THE DOORS ARE OPEN TO EVERYONE, AND AN OPTIONAL DONATION IS THE ONLY FEE. AFTER HOURS CLASSES OR STUDY GROUPS ARE SCHEDULED EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, WITH SOME ALSO ON FRIDAYS AND WEEKENDS. A TYPICAL MONTH FEATURES 24 CLASSES/EVENTS. ATTENDANCE RANGES FROM 8 PEOPLE IN A WEDNESDAY NIGHT GROUP TO 180 PEOPLE AT A SPECIAL FRIDAY NIGHT EVENT IN THE SANCTUARY. SOME OF THE CLASSES OFFERED IN THE LEARNING CENTER CAN BE TAKEN FOR CEU CREDITS, AS OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE CERTIFIED TO TEACH AT THAT LEVEL. THESE CLASSES ARE USUALLY ON WEEKENDS. IN ADDITION, WINGS BOOKSTORE INVITES RENOWNED AUTHORS AND SPEAKERS FROM VARIOUS SPIRITUAL/HEALING MODALITIES FOR TICKETED EVENTS THAT BENEFIT AND DRAW ATTENDEES FROM AN EXPANDED GEOGRAPHICAL BASE. THESE MAJOR EVENTS TAKE PLACE IN THE FIRST UNITY CHURCH SANCTUARY, WHICH WE RENT FOR THESE OCCASIONS. THESE EVENTS ARE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO OUR MISSION, AS THEY PROVIDE AN OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND OUR MINISTRY. OTHER OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE FAIRS, FESTIVALS, AND MOVIES. HEALTH FAIRS, BOOK FAIRS, AND INTUITIVE FAIRS BRING TOGETHER THERAPISTS, SPIRITUAL COUNSELORS, AND VENDORS WITH SEEKERS, CLIENTS, AND OTHERS FOUR TIMES PER YEAR. EACH OF THESE EVENTS IS STAFFED BY VOLUNTEERS, WHO ASSIST AND SUPPORT OUR STAFF. THESE VOLUNTEERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THAT EVENT AS A GUEST (IN THE CASE OF MAJOR EVENTS).
COFFEE SHOP - THIS IS THE AREA OF THE WINGS BOOKSTORE WHERE MOST OF THE AFTER HOURS SEMINARS AND CLASSES TAKE PLACE. RECOGNIZING THE ROLE OF NETWORKING AND COMMUNITY, WINGS BOOKSTORE WAS DESIGNED WITH A FLOOR PLAN THAT INCLUDES AN AREA DESIGNATED FOR SIPPING AND GATHERING, TO SUPPORT THE INTENTION OF COMMUNITY. OFFERINGS INCLUDE COFFEE, TEA, AND BOTTLED BEVERAGES, AS WELL AS BAKERY ITEMS AND SNACKS. WINGS COFFEE BAR IS OPEN THE SAME HOURS AS OUR STORE AND IS CONSIDERED YET ANOTHER OUTREACH TO OUR COMMUNITY, AS SEEKERS OFTEN STOP FOR COFFEE AND FIND SOMETHING MORE, SUCH AS A MEDITATION CLASS.
