ECONOMIC CAPACITY BUILDING: ALTHOUGH 75% OF THE WORLD'S HUNGRY LIVE IN AREAS WHERE THEY COULD GROW ENOUGH FOR A HEALTHY DIET AND HAVE INCOME TO COVER BASIC NEEDS. IN HAITI, 30% OF THE POPULATION IS CONSIDERED FOOD INSECURE (WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME 2015). CEI WORKS WITH SMALLHOLDER HAITIAN FARMERS TO BRING FOOD SECURITY, ECONOMIC VIABILITY, AND RESTORE DEPLETED LAND. CURRENT PROGRAMS INCLUDE GOAT, AGRICULTURE, WATER INITIATIVE, AND WOMEN'S BUSINESS.
INTERNSHIPS AND RESIDENCIES - CEI FACILITATES VARIOUS SHORT-TERM LEARNING EXCHANGES FOR HAITIAN LEADERS, EDUCATORS, AGRONOMISTS, MUSICIANS, ARTISTS, AND OTHERS THOUGH TARGETED BRIEF RESIDENCIES. WITH PARTNERS, WE ALSO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HAITIANS TO ATTEND CONFERENCES, SEMINARS, AND WORKSHOPS SPECIFICALLY RELATED TO THEIR FIELD. EACH EXCHANGE IS UNIQUELY DESIGNED AROUND THE INDIVIDUAL AND HAITIAN COMMUNITY SERVED AND THE US COLLABORATOR, WITH THE EXPECTATION OF EQUAL GAIN THROUGH THE EXCHANGE.
