IN THE FALL OF 2023, A MAJOR SUMMIT, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE RELIGIOUS LIBERTY INITIATIVE, WAS PLANNED AND HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME.OUTREACH AMONG AND MOBILIZATION OF BLACK CLERGY IN THE 2023 FISCAL YEAR CONTINUED AND EXPANDED FURTHER THROUGH THE PHILADELPHIA TENPOINT COALITION - A VIOLENCE REDUCTION VENTURE ENTERED INTO IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE MOUNT AIRY CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST AND OTHER ENTITIES IN THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA.IMPELLED BY OUR UNCOMPROMISING COMMITMENT TO THE POOR, THE SEYMOUR INSTITUTE PERSISTED IN ITS MISSION TO ADDRESS THE GREATER VULNERABILITY OF ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS TO THE HARMS THAT ARISE FROM IMPROPER SOCIETAL ACTION. THIS WAS PRIMARILY ADDRESSED THROUGH THE ANNUAL ACADEMIC SUMMER PROGRAMS WHICH SERVE DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS IN THE BOSTON AREA.THESE PROGRAMS WERE CONDUCTED IN-PERSON IN THE ONE CASE, HYBRID IN THE OTHER AND WERE INTENDED NOT ONLY TO REDUCE THE USUAL SUMMER SLIDE BUT ALSO TO ADDRESS THE GRAVE AND PERSISTING DROP IN LEARNING OCCASIONED BY THE PANDEMIC. ADDITIONALLY, ONE OF THE SUMMER PROGRAMS PROVIDED INCOME LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH.THE RESEARCH PROJECT IN POST-SECULAR SCIENCE MET ONCE ONLY IN 2023 AS THE PROJECT MOVED TOWARDS PUBLICATION AND A NARROWING OF THE FOCUS TO WRITING RETREATS FOR THE 2024 FISCAL YEAR. HOWEVER, A MAJOR RESEARCH PROJECT 'THE BLACK CHURCH SOCIAL SERVICE PROJECT' IS TO BEGIN IN 2024 AND RECEIVED PROJECT APPROVAL AND FUNDING IN 2023.
