STRENGTHEN THE LIVES OF YOUTH IN FOSTER CARE THROUGH SUPPORTIVE HOUSING AND PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE HOPE, HEALING AND INDEPENDENCE.

RESIDENTIAL/HOUSING PROGRAM: GHH PROVIDES HOUSING FOR CLIENTS WHO ARE AGING OUT OF THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM AND WHO OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAVE A HOME. A FAMILY-LIKE ENVIRONMENT IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE. HOUSING SPECIALIST, CHECKS IN ON RESIDENTS, AND HAS WEEKLY MEETINGS TO MAKE SURE BENCHMARK GOALS ARE BEING MET. MENTORING, SHARED MEALS, CELEBRATIONS (FOR EXAMPLE, BIRTHDAYS AND GRADUATIONS) AND OUTINGS ARE INTEGRAL TO PROVIDING A FAMILY-LIKE, SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT.


EXPLORERS PROGRAM: CLIENTS GO ON SUPERVISED TRIPS AROUND THE U.S., INCLUDING THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS, THE ROCKIES, MAINE AND THE BAHAMAS, GIVING THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE OTHER ENVIRONMENTS AND REGIONS. MANY HAVE NEVER BEEN OUT OF FLORIDA OR ON A PLANE.COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM: GHH ORGANIZES EVENTS FOR THE FOSTER CARE FAMILIES IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER NON-PROFITS. CHRISTMAS, EASTER, FOSTER CARE AWARENESS ARE A FEW EXAMPLES.


DAY CAMP PROGRAM: GHH PROVIDES EIGHT WEEK PROGRAM DURING THE SUMMER, TWO WEEKS EACH FOR WINTER AND SPRING BREAK, HELD AT GHH COMMUNITY CENTER. CAMPERS PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF ON-SITE ACTIVITIES BASED ON AGE AND INTEREST, GO ON FIELD TRIPS, INCLUDING WEEKLY VISITS TO A COMMUNITY POOL TO SWIM. ALL TRANSPORTATION AND MEALS ARE PROVIDED.


AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM: PARTICIPANTS COME AFTER SCHOOL TO THE COMMUNITY CENTER FOR LIFE SKILLS CLASSES, ACADEMIC SUPPORT (E.G. TUTORING, COLLEGE TEST PREP), AND FITNESS.
