Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
FIGHTING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE WHERE ORPHANED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN EXPERIENCE POWER AND TRANSFORMATION IN EVERY AREA OF THEIR LIVES. UNITY 4 ORPHANS (U4O) INSPIRES INDIVIDUALS TO INVEST IN THE LIVES OF ABANDONED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN MEXICO AND LATIN AMERICA THROUGH CONSISTENT RELATIONSHIPS AND PURPOSE DRIVEN PROGRAMS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
EDUCATION 4 CHANGE - BY PROVIDING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT, WE DIRECTLY IMPACT FUTURE JOB OPTIONS WITH ADDED CAREER AND INCOME OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS. IN MEXICO WE SPONSORED TWO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WHO'VE AGED OUT OF ORPHANAGES AND ARE SUPPORTING THEMSELVES TO PURSUE A DEGREE IN HIGHER EDUCATION. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THESE YOUNG MEN AND WHAT THEY'VE ACCOMPLISHED! IN NICARAGUA, WE EMPLOY 5 TEACHERS TO DELIVER A ONE-OF-A-KIND ENGLISH PROGRAM FOR 50 STUDENTS. THESE CHILDREN LIVE IN A SMALL AND REMOTE FISHING VILLAGE ACCESSED BY DIRT ROADS. IN 2021 OUR FIRST GRADUATING CLASS CELEBRATED THEIR COMPLETION OF OUR 12-LEVEL ESL PROGRAM.
PLAY 4 CHANGE - ORPHAN HOME VISITS IN MEXICO. BECAUSE MEXICO DOES NOT HAVE A FOSTER CARE OR WELFARE SYSTEM, ORPHANAGES HOUSE THOUSANDS OF ABANDONED AND IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN. WE HOST VOLUNTEERS WILLING TO TAKE THE FIRST STEP IN BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE AND INVESTING IN THE LIVES OF VULNERABLE CHILDREN. DURING OUR SERVICE TRIPS VOLUNTEERS SHOWER THE KIDS WITH LOVE, PLAY GAMES, BUILD SELF ESTEEM, AND FEED THEM A MEAL. IN 2021 WE RESUMED REGULAR SERVICE TRIPS ACROSS THE BORDER TO DELIVER MUCH-NEEDED SUPPLIES TO ENSURE FOOD SECURITY FOR 80+ CHILDREN AT SPONSORED ORPHANAGES IN TIJUANA. WE ALSO CONDUCTED A SPECIAL SHOE DRIVE IN THE SUMMER AND CHRISTMAS GIFT DRIVE DURING THE HOLIDAYS.
NUTRITION 4 CHANGE - SINCE 2010, UNITY 4 ORPHANS HAS COORDINATED THE DELIVERY OF FOOD GOODS TWICE A MONTH TO 80 CHILDREN AT TWO ORPHAN HOMES IN TIJUANA, MEXICO. THE TOTAL VALUE OF DONATED GOODS IS ESTIMATED AT $20,000 ANNUALLY AND HELPS CONTINUE FEEDING THE KIDS AT THE ORPHAN HOMES THROUGHOUT THE MONTH. ADDITIONALLY, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A LOCAL CHURCH IN NICARAGUA, APPROXIMATELY 3,710 INDIVIDUAL MEALS ARE SERVED THROUGH OUR WEEKLY FEEDING PROGRAM.
OTHER PROGRAMS AND VARIOUS SUPPORT ARE DEVELOPED EACH YEAR TO SUPPORT THE LARGER PURPOSE OF OUR ORGANIZATION'S STATED MISSION.
