Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
VOTERS OF NEBRASKA STAFF OPERATED A SOPHISTICATED DIGITAL PROGRAM THAT GENERATED 4,024 WEBSITE VISITS, 21 BLOGS, 239 NEW FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS (NET GROWTH: 99), 177 NEW TWITTER FOLLOWERS (NET GROWTH: 123), 437 NEW INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS (NET GROWTH: 419). DURING FY21, 144,080 EMAILS WERE SENT TO SUPPORTERS ASKING THEM TO TAKE ACTION ON BEHALF OF VOTERS OF NEBRASKA. THE DIGITAL PROGRAM HELPED GROW SUPPORTERS IN STRATEGIC AREAS ACROSS THE STATE BY AN AVERAGE OF 14%.IN FY 2021, VOTERS OF NEBRASKA CONTINUED TO DO THEIR WORK VIRTUALLY AS A RESULT OF THE GLOBAL COVID-19 PANDEMIC. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS, WE CONTINUED TO USE TACTICS THAT HELPED TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OUR STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, (CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O)AND COMMUNITIES. THIS WAS FELT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY AS WE WORKED ON THE 2020 GENERAL ELECTION IN AN ALMOST ENTIRELY VIRTUAL MANNER.WE BEGAN ENGAGING AND GROWING SUPPORTERS OUTSIDE OF OMAHA AND LINCOLN VIA VIRTUAL ORGANIZING. IN SOME CASES, SHIFTING TO VIRTUAL WORK ALLOWED MORE PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF OMAHA AND LINCOLN TO BE ENGAGED SINCE TRAVEL WAS NO LONGER A BARRIER. WE HAD MORE OUTSTATE FOLKS ATTEND OUR LOBBY DAYS EVENTS THAN EVER BEFORE, AS AN EXAMPLE. DURING THE 2021 NEBRASKA LEGISLATIVE SESSION, THERE WERE NO BILLS INTRODUCED TO RESTRICT ACCESS TO ABORTION OR OTHER SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE SERVICES. VOTERS OF NEBRASKA STAFF AND SUPPORTERS WERE ABLE TO FOCUS ON COALITION EFFORTS THAT AFFECT OUR STAFF AND PATIENTS IN DIFFERENT WAYS. THIS INCLUDED SUPPORTING A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO REMOVE ANTI-LGBTQ LANGUAGE REGARDING MARRIAGE AND OTHER ANTI-DISCRIMINATION BILLS, OPPOSING PROPOSED CHANGES TO OUR ELECTIONS THAT WOULD HAVE MADE THEM LESS ACCESSIBLE, AND SUPPORTING PRO-ACTIVE BILLS TO EXPAND BIRTH CONTROL ACCESS AND TELEMEDICINE ABORTION. AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED, ALMOST ALL OF OUR WORK THIS YEAR WAS DONE VIRTUALLY, INCLUDING OUR ANNUAL LOBBY DAY. IN PREVIOUS YEARS THIS EVENT WAS HELD ENTIRELY IN-PERSON NEAR THE CAPITAL. DUE TO COVID PRECAUTIONS, WE INSTEAD HELD THREE VIRTUAL EVENTS TO EDUCATE SUPPORTERS ON KEY BILLS, INTRODUCE THEM TO SUPPORTIVE SENATORS, AND ASK THEM TO TAKE ACTION WITH THEIR SENATOR. THIS FORMAT ALLOWED US TO ENGAGE MORE SPEAKERS AND MORE PARTICIPANTS FROM OUTSIDE OF OMAHA AND LINCOLN BECAUSE OF THE SHORTENED TIME FRAME AND REDUCED LOGISTICS. FEEDBACK FROM THE EVENT WAS POSITIVE AND WE ARE CONSIDERING HYBRID EVENTS (WITH VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON OPTIONS) MOVING FORWARD AS THE PANDEMIC SUBSIDES.IN ADDITION, WE CONTINUED THE POLICY SERIES EVENT THAT BEGAN AT THE START OF THE LAST REPORTING PERIOD WITH THE THREE REMAINING SESSIONS : STORYTELLING FOR POLICY CHANGE, TITLE IX CHANGES AND SEX ASSAULT ON CAMPUS, AND AN ABRIDGED VERSION OF THE ANNUAL LINCOLN WOMEN AND GENDER POLICY SUMMIT. THE GREATEST OUTCOMES OF THESE ONLINE ADVOCACY EVENTS WERE BROADER ENGAGEMENT WITH SUPPORTERS STATEWIDE AND PARTNERSHIP WITH A GREATER DIVERSITY OF ORGANIZATIONS.VOLUNTEERS DONATED 2,877 HOURS OF TIME ENGAGING IN ACTIVITIES STATEWIDE IN SUPPORT OF EXPANDING SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE AND RIGHTS. THIS INCLUDED 51 UNIQUE VOLUNTEERS WHO SENT POSTCARDS TO LOW PROPENSITY VOTERS AHEAD OF THE 2020 ELECTION ENCOURAGING THEM TO VOTE, 10 VOLUNTEERS WHO WERE TRAINED ON RELATIONAL ORGANIZING, AND 212 UNIQUE VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR ELECTORAL CAMPAIGNS. THIS WORK CONTRIBUTED TO THE LARGEST VOTER TURNOUT IN THE HISTORY OF NEBRASKA AND A SIGNIFICANT TURNOUT FROM PPVN SUPPORTERS.74% OF REGISTERED VOTERS CASTING A BALLOT AND THIS INCLUDED 92% OF THE PPVN SUPPORTER BASE. WE ENDORSED A RECORD NUMBER OF CANDIDATES IN 2020. AND, IN THE SPRING CITYWIDE ELECTION ALONE, PPAN VOLUNTEERS COMMITTED HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF THEIR TIME TO SOCIALLY DISTANCED ORGANIZING EFFORTS, INCLUDING THOUSANDS OF POSTCARDS AND CALLS TO LINCOLN VOTERS. PPVN ALSO REACHED ALMOST 19,000 PEOPLE THROUGH A PAID SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN SUPPORTING ENDORSED CANDIDATES.OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS WERE IMPACTED BY THE ONGOING PANDEMIC BUT FOR THE MOST PART THEY STILL MET OR EXCEEDED GOALS. OUR COLLEGE STUDENT FOCUSED GEN ACTION PROGRAM MOVED TO VIRTUAL CLASSES AND DUE TO OTHER CHALLENGES THAT STUDENTS WERE NAVIGATING, WE REDUCED OUR PLANNED EVENTS FROM SIX TO THREE. OUR SPEAKER'S BUREAU PROGRAM, HOWEVER, EXCEEDED GOALS WITH 21 ACTIVE MEMBERS, GREATER DIVERSITY OF MEMBERSHIP, AND MORE ACTIONS BY MEMBERS THAN TARGETED. FINALLY, OUR PATIENT ESCORT PROGRAM ALSO EXCEEDED GOALS WITH 11 NEW ESCORTS TRAINED AND OVER 500 SHIFTS COMPLETED.
