THE GRAND ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION CREATES EXPANDED OPPORTUNITIES AND ACCESS FOR THE STUDENTS OF THE GRAND ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS THROUGH PHILANTHROPIC INVESTMENT. THEIR ROBUST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM THIS YEAR OFFERED 650,008 IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS TO BOTH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS SEEKING DUAL CREDIT AND GRADUATING SENIORS. OTHER INDIVIDUAL GRANTS INCLUDE KINDNESS GRANTS TO FULFILL A STUDENT NEED WHEN IT IS IDENTIFIED. THESE INCLUDE PAYING OFF LUNCH ACCOUNTS, ACQUIRING TENNIS SHOES OR A COAT, PAYING REGISTRATION FOR CHOIR CLINICS, ETC. ADDITIONALLY, THE FOUNDATION INVESTS IN GROUPS OF STUDENTS AND THEIR TEACHERS THROUGH CLASSROOM GRANTS, SPECIAL PROJECTS, CAPITAL PURCHASES, TEACHER TRAINING/SCHOLARSHIPS, AND THE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARDS.
