INSTRUCTION - NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY (NWU OR UNIVERSITY) IS A LIBERAL ARTS INSTITUTION DEDICATED TO ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INDIVIDUAL STUDENT. ALL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS CONSIST OF FACE-TO-FACE INSTRUCTION AND INTEGRATION OF THE LIBERAL ARTS PERSPECTIVE REGARDLESS OF MAJOR. NWU SERVES APPROXIMATELY 1,500 TRADITIONAL UNDERGRADUATES EARNING BACHELOR'S DEGREES ON A RESIDENTIAL CAMPUS. APPROXIMATELY 200 ADULT UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS ATTEND CLASSES ON THE LINCOLN CAMPUS. U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT HAS NAMED NWU A TOP REGIONAL UNIVERSITY. IN 2014, NEBRASKA WESLEYAN LAUNCHED A NEW PROGRAM OF GENERAL EDUCATION FOR ALL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS (TRADITIONAL AND ADULT) CALLED THE ARCHWAY CURRICULUM. IT INTEGRATES LEARNING ACROSS DISCIPLINARY BOUNDARIES, ENHANCES LEARNING THROUGH NON-CLASSROOM EXPERIENCES, AND WEAVES SKILL DEVELOPMENT THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM. THE ARCHWAY CURRICULUM HAS BEEN NATIONALLY HERALDED WITHIN HIGHER EDUCATION AS A PROGRESSIVE MODEL OF LIBERAL LEARNING FOR THE 21ST CENTURY. IN JANUARY 2019, NWU OPENED DUANE W. ACKLIE HALL OF SCIENCE, ITS FIRST ACADEMIC BUILDING IN 36 YEARS. NWU CONSISTENTLY PRODUCES TOP PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS INCLUDING FULBRIGHT, TRUMAN, GILMAN, AND GOLDWATER SCHOLARS. THE UNIVERSITY IS A NATIONALLY-RECOGNIZED LEADER FOR COMBINED EXCELLENCE IN ACADEMICS AND ATHLETICS, RANKING TENTH IN THE NATION (AMONG ALL DIVISIONS) WITH 181 ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS AND SIXTH IN THE NATION FOR NCAA POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS.
STUDENT SERVICES - NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY'S LIVING AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOCUSES ON STUDENT SUCCESS THROUGH DEVELOPMENT OF THE WHOLE PERSON. STUDENT WELL-BEING AND PERSONAL GROWTH ARE SUPPORTED BY SERVICES IN CAREER GUIDANCE, HEALTH SERVICES INCLUDING COUNSELING, ORGANIZATIONAL INVOLVEMENT AND MULTIPLE ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES. ABOUT 30% OF TRADITIONAL STUDENTS COMPETE IN INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS (21 SPORTS). NWU IS A MEMBER OF NCAA DIVISION III, COMPETING IN THE AMERICAN RIVERS CONFERENCE. THE PRAIRIE WOLVES HAVE CELEBRATED MANY CONFERENCE WINS AS WELL AS A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN MEN'S BASKETBALL IN 2018.
