YOUTH SAILING VIRGINIA'S MISSION IS TO TEACH LIFE SKILLS TO HIGH SCHOOL, MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH SAILING PROGRAMS, INSPIRING LEARNING, PERSONAL GROWTH AND LEADERSHIP THAT PROVIDE PATHWAYS FOR THEIR FUTURE.

THE LEARN TO SAIL PROGRAM PROVIDES SAILBOATS AND INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF FOR LEARNING TO SAIL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADOLESCENTS, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND ADULTS OF ALL AGES. WE SUPPORT MANY OF THE YOUTH WITH SCHOLARSHIPS THROUGH GRANTS AND INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS. WE CHARGE A NOMINAL FEE AND STRIVE TO MAKE SAILING ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL IN THE COMMUNITY. THE HIGH SCHOOL RACING PROGRAM PROVIDES TEACHING AND SUPPORT FOR SAILORS OF THE VIRGINIA INTERSCHOLASTIC SAILING ASSOCIATION. ADDITIONALLY, YSV HOSTS REGATTAS FOR THE LOCAL, REGIONAL AND NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RACING LEAGUES. OUR SAILING INTO STEM PROVIDES ENRICHMENT LEARNING FOR KIDS AFTER SCHOOL AND DURING THE SUMMER. WE OPERATE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
