THE VETERAN'S HEALING FARM (VHF) PROMOTES COMMUNITY SPIRIT AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH VETERANS BY PROVIDING INNOVATIVE AND EDUCATIVE TECHNIQUES IN FARMING FOR THE BENEFIT OF RESIDENTS OF HENDERSON COUNTY AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES.

1) VETERANS SUPPORT - IN 2021, THE VHF'S DIRECTOR OF PLANT MEDICINE SAW 38 PATIENTS FROM MAY THROUGH OCTOBER. WITH THE VOLUNTEERS AND FOOD DISTRIBUTION, AN ESTIMATED 500 VETERANS WERE POSITIVELY AFFECTED. VETERANS ALSO MADE AND DISTRIBUTED 130 CHRISTMAS WREATHS TO OTHER VETERANS IN FRONT OF THE CHARLES GEORGE VA.
2) FARM OPERATIONS - IN 2021, THE VHF PLANTED AND GREW OVER 5,000 POUNDS OF VARIOUS PRODUCE, 70 BOTTLES OF HONEY, AND 500 FLOWER BOUQUETS. THESE IN TURN WERE GIVEN TO THE VETERANS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND CAREGIVERS AT THE CHARLES GEORGE VA, THE VETERANS RESTORATION QUARTERS (VETERAN HOMELESS SHELTER) IN DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE, AND SAFELIGHT WOMEN'S SHELTER IN HENDERSONVILLE.
3) WORKSHOPS - IN 2021, THE VHF WORKSHOPS WERE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY COVID-19. THREE- DAY BOOTCAMPS' WHICH HAD BEEN RUN PREVIOUS YEARS WERE ALL CANCELED. THE VHF WAS ABLE TO OFFER SIX, HALF-DAY WORKSHOPS IN MEDICINAL HERBS FOR ANXIETY, SLEEP DISORDERS, ENERGY, GENERAL HEALTH, AND WOMEN'S HEALTH. PARTICIPANTS LEARNED HOW TO MAKE VARIOUS TEAS, TINCTURES, SAUVES, BATH SALTS, ETC. THIS WAS ALSO STREAMED LIVE FOR THOSE WHO WERE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND IN PERSON. SIX WORKSHOPS WITH 15 STUDENTS EACH, FOR A TOTAL 90 PARTICIPANTS.
