OUR MISSION IS TO TAKE MAINE VETERANS TO WASHINGTON DC TO SEE THE MEMORIALS ERECTED IN THEIR HONOR. HONOR FLIGHT MAINE IS A NON-PROFIT, ALL VOLUNTEER, ORGANIZATION THAT EXISTS FOR THAT SOLE PURPOSE.ON AVERAGE, HONOR FLIGHT MAINE TAKES 3-5 TRIPS A YEAR TO WASHINGTON DC WITH VETERANS SO THAT THEY MAY TOUR, EXPERIENCE AND REFLECT AT THEIR MEMORIALS, INCLUDING WWII, KOREAN, VIETNAM, NAVY, MARINES, AND AIR FORCE. THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL AND ARLINGTON CEMETERY WITH THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD AND THE WOMEN'S MILITARY MUSEUM ARE ALSO VISITED. EXTRA EVENTS SUCH AS TRIPS TO FORT MEADE AND FORT MCHENRY MAY BE INCLUDED DEPENDING ON WEATHER AND LOGISTICS. HFM COVERS EXPENSES (FOR THE VETERANS) FOR ROUND TRIP AIR, 2 NIGHTS AT THE HILTON (BWI), BUS TRANSPORTATION AND ALL MEALS. WHEELCHAIRS ARE PROVIDED TO TRANSPORT THOSE VETERANS NEEDING ASSISTANCE.

IN 2023, HONOR FLIGHT MAINE TOOK 5 TRIPS TO WASHINGTON DC AND TRANSPORTED 123 VETERANS. BOARD MEMBERS ACTIVELY CONTACTED VETERANS ON OUR WAITING LIST AND PROSPECTIVE VETERANS AND PROVIDED UPDATES AS INFORMATION WAS RECEIVED FROM HONOR FLIGHT NETWORK HEADQUARTERS. WE UTILIZED SOCIAL MEDIA AS AN OUTREACH TO KEEP VETERANS, VOLUNTEERS, AND OUR COMMUNITIES UP TO DATE.
